The lack of STP and Rush here disturbs me....

As well as some Ben Folds for good measure:

okay, ive listened to alot of music, i mean all types, i dont care wat it is, if it sounds good and i can jam to it, then i listen to it. but im running out of bands and songs to think of. all im askin is you post bands and songs and video's you think are the shit and you think not alot of people have heard them. lets get the musc started

and yes, rap is apreciated
All I can say is Pandora, Pandora, Pandora. Go use Pandora. I like music most of my friends don't, and whenever I'm looking for something new I just go to Pandora, pop in a favorite artist or song of mine, and let the good times roll. You can skip songs, or give them thumbs up or thumbs down if you do or don't want them to appear again on that playlist, or engage the shuffle feature to add some more variety to the playlist. There are a few ads here and there, but it's nothing worse than what you see on YouTube. I know it's a lazy answer, but if you are looking for a constant source of musical variety I can't recommend Pandora any more. The only thing Pandora can't really help you with is finding independent artists. They can only use licensed music.
This. only instead of Pandora I use Last.fm. I've increased my library by leaps and bounds after starting to use it. also i find Last.fm has more underground stuff than Pandora. Then again I haven't used Pandora as extensively.

I would suggest Streetlight Manifesto, they are awesome and were amazing when I saw them in concert.

Listen to some Clutch, TV on the Radio, and some Pulp. Some good variety in there, especially with TV on the Radio.

Okay, I got a lot of stuff coming in, so I'm probably going to have to edit this every now and then to add stuff, but here's what I got so far:

Rap:

Aesop Rock

Aesop Rock has convinced me that Rap music isn't just about self promotion. It can also be deep and meaningful while still having a sick beat.
Sage Francis

Again, a Rapper that has much more deeper lyrics and writing. Granted, there's some self promotion, but not much.

Trip Hop (and/or instrumental hip hop):

DJ Shadow

I have trouble describing this guy. You're gonna have to check this guy out blindly

Electronica (or anything like it):

Ratatat

Whenever I ask someone to describe Ratatat, they always tell me that they sound like they're on pot. And... well, yeah, they are. You'll hear some really trippy stuff by them, but they're still really good and really groovy.

Guitar

I have trouble describing Guitar, only because I have so much trouble finding information about him. From what I could find, he's a German guitarist who likes to use Japanese style guitars and music as well as giving them a pop beat.

Moby

From what I've gathered, Moby put techno/electronica on the map. However, no one really talks about him that much, which is sad, because he's a really talented guy.

Punk/Rock/Ska:

Streetlight Manifesto

A friend of mine, who's pretty much a Ska enthusiast and loves this band to death, told me that this isn't technically Ska. It's much more Punk. However, it has enough of the elements to be considered Ska, so we're calling it Ska.

Larry and His Flask

These guys are a lot of fun! They're much more country or bluegrass with a lot of punk thrown in. When they're on stage, they are nothing buy energy!

That's all I got. I might post more... might...
