Do not listen to this guy, Bose and Sony do not make very good headphones compared to companies like Sennheiser or Denon which have much better sound quality then you would ever imagine.
Agreed, though, in Bose's defense, although the audio quality may not be the highest of audiophile standards, I find their high end, active noise cancelling pair of over the ear headphones to be fairly impressive for the noise cancelling technology, having tried them myself.

Sorry about the weird long sentence :S

EDIT: Oh, and those Denon's you posted are SO comfortable. Personally not my taste though (too much bass), but they're one of the most comfortable pairs of headphones Ive tried.

First I am going to get this out of the way.

DO NOT BUY SKULLCANDY.

I am speaking from past experience. I have owned 2 pairs of Smokin' Buds and one pair of Lowriders. All of which broke within 4 months. I know other people who have had similar lifespans with their Skullcandys.

The sound quality is somewhat underwhelming. They generally have good bass, but the treble and mid ranges are compromised because of this. If your family really are true audiophiles I would highly recommend other brands such as Shure, Ultimate Ears, Bose, Sennheiser and Sony.

But, by far, the worst, most unforgivable aspect of Skullcandys is their build quality. Even if you take special care of them and listen to them at moderate volumes, you won't get more than 5-6 months use out of them. Also the wires are extremely thin even on the rather bulky Skull Crusher models.

Bose is on the cutting edge of noise cancellation I wont deny that, I have tried their most expensive Quietcomfort headphone and was very impressed. $400 impressed though? No not really :\

From the earbuds I had from Skullcandy, I found they were more fashion accessories than good audio devices, but if you know better than goodgood.

If I had to recommend, I'd say so with Sennheiser, especially if you want headphones.

If your looking for earbuds, check a company called...AKG. I got a pair a few months back and they. are. awesomeeeee. They might[/i] do headphones too, but I'm not sure.

Yeah, AKG makes some pretty good on-ear and over-ear headphones. I don't like the style of their over the ear headphones, but I their 180$ model on-ear headphone is quite nice.

Aaaah sweet! Yeah I found a pair of buds in a random electronics shop in Austria and was like...nice box. *buysbuys*

Their really good, and I prefer them to my previous Sennheiser buds.
But bare in mind, I'm talking about 32? here haha xD.
Good to know they do quality stuff across the board though ^_^

Heheh, yeah. That's the only problem. Expensive buggers. Though, despite the price tag, I'd still consider them if I was someone who lived in a noisier urban area, or someone who travels on public transit often. I live in a pretty quiet rural area though, so I don't really deem them necessary for my purposes.

I have a pair of Shure Se530s and trust me when I say skull candy really are not that great. (a slight step above ipod ear-buds).

I'd recommend getting Klipsch Image S4i.

Maybe about 50 cars maximum pass my house daily, Im in the back area of a secluded suburb surrounded by valleys which block noise. I have no need for them :p

Do not buy Skullcandy if you're looking for something that sounds really good for the price.

Check out Koss Portapros, you can get them for $30-50 on Amazon, (if you're in the US, Best Buy has a version with an upgraded cable, which is an absolute boon :) ), they have a lifetime warranty if anything breaks down, they either get repaired or replaced, and they sound flipping amazing for their price. I've never been happier with a set of headphones in my life.

Sennheiser, of course, makes excellent headphones. I was partial to AKG's K271 when I got to use them, but they are kind of expensive, also according to the website they are discontinued.

I'm just going to repeat this, but if you want actual good sound quality stay away from Skullcandy.

The average skull candy headphone is just a normal headphone with a 40-100+% hike in price from another less stylish headphone.

I got Metaldrums for 10 dollars and I couldn't tell the difference between them and my old Skull candies I got this german brand stereo headphones for about 40$ and I compared them to my friends Skull candy that he got for 70$, Do them all a favor and buy them something that isn't skull candy.
