I have a friend who's father is a dean at Polytechnic Institute of NYU and can get me into there (FREE) and hook me up with a dorm room (FREE) and pay for my tuition. The only problem is that I live in California.

I have never been all that close with my family but I do have allot of friends here and I would be leaving them for a shit load of time.

I have little to no money and transfering out of Mt.SAC (Jr. College) is allot harder than I thought it would be.

I am running out if time (2 weeks left) to decide and I just want to hear some input on the situation before I decide

P.S. I have consulted this with most of my friends and family but all of them say its up to me and I still dont have a clue.

try it out for a year, if you dont like it just transfer back home

but an opportunity for free tuition and housing is a GREAT deal, I went to a college where none of my friends are going but you still got a phone and facebook

That, and this is the time of your life where you can branch out a bit and experience things that you just can't get at home. Like a good brooklyn pizza. Honestly, it may be enriching to be in a new area with new people, though it would be uncomfortable for a while.

asking a bunch of strangers is pretty pointless, no matter how good the intentions of anyone who responds including myself I guess, it is your life and you are the only one that can live it. In a weeks time I could care less about your choice and anyone else on this site probably won't care about it either for much longer if that long at all. However, you five years from now and for the rest of your life will have to live with it. Whatever you choose I hope it makes you happy and is the right choice for you

Yeah, but is the deal legit? How do you know you won't be murdered?
If that's not a concern...I still don't know. I would probably go, if I were you.
But I don't have many close friends who live nearby, so.
Yeah the deals legit I have met with his father and we get along well (at least I hope we do).

That sounds like a good plan its just that this computer I am using isnt mine (my cousin is letting me use it till he gets to college [he is a junior in highschool]) so there goes facebook but still I might just do that (to bad I have to pay for my own transportation).

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Go for it. You have an opportunity presented before you, take it. Take all opportunities. How will you live otherwise? The fact that you're anxious and asking questions confirms it. It shows you're intelligent and wish to learn more so dive in! Life should be fun, keep it that way! Even if it doesn't work right, you will learn and thus manipulate it to your advantage! Go go go!

If the deal is legitimate it sounds pretty enticing. You may not have friends out that way, but the majority of people live and die within 50 km of where they are raised as kids, so why not get out somewhere new and see if you enjoy it?

You're not supposed to blow him for that, right?
No

I dont care if you care the whole point is that I am indecisive and no one I know personally will give me a straight forward answer but it seems like everyone says go for it so I guess that I will give it a try.

I say do it. I know you're scared to leave your friends but you'll make new friends at college. Hell, my friends at college are way better friends than my friends from home.
