Since you said anything, Markus Schulz, Matthew Dekay and Ferry Corsten are three artists i'd nominate. They do techno and they're pretty amazing.

Oh good grief I can smell the sweat and blood from last night's bar fight in this thread.

I have 2 words for you. Overclocked Remix. Get on there, find a tune you know and get your remix on. I'm assuming since you're here that you have some level of appreciation for video game music. In that case also check out the Metroid Metal project. Finally check out Hadouken!, a UK band who are frankly rather brilliant. Check out the songs Leap of Faith and That Boy That Girl for them at their finest.

I'd give Tokyo Police Club a listen. I'm hooked on them at the moment. Also try:

The Clash (Old School)
Violent Femmes (Mellow Sound)
The OneUps (Nerdcore Jazz)
The Fratellis (Funloving Brits)
The Hold Steady (A little like Bruce Springsteen, which is good)
Pearl Jam (But that's just a given)

Enjoy, and let me know what you think.

for something a little different, try a genre called ChipTune, its techno made from 8bit nintendo samples, and sometimes 16bit samples. The leader of the genre is Sabrepulse

And since you like rock, have you heard of Enter Shikari?

If you want a change from regular stuff, I'd recommend Spiralmouth. I'm not sure where to find their music, but they did all the stuff for Crash Twinsanity and I think they're pretty good.
Ask Google about it, it'll know. It always knows.

Why not look into some classic jazz? Some Miles Davis, or Wes Montgomery, or John Coltrane, etc.? How bout classic blues? Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, Muddy Waters? I'm a classic rock fan myself, so I'd suggest the classics, of which there are far too many to list. Just to name a few: The Beatles, the Who, AC/DC, Zeppelin, Floyd, Sabbath, Doors, etc., etc.

Symphonic metal is good. It ranges from soft music to death metal in some cases.. fun fun.

Nightwish - Great band, well over 100 songs
Krypteria - Uses latin in a lot of their songs, 40-ish songs
Epica - Yes, they are epic. 40-ish songs

All the bands I have right now... I'm afraid to get more lest my old, 4gb iPod runs out of room T-T

If you enjoy foo fighters, you better try out some queens of the stone age. Personally i think that lullabies to paralyze is one of the greatest rock discs to ever come to fruition. Also, as a different genre to look into, i have been a punk fan for a long time, so if you are really into lyrics and what not, give these bands a go ahead:

against me!
Bad Religion
Anti-flag
Propaghandi
NOFX
avenged sevenfold

enjoy!
Good to see another AM! fan on here. @Spinwhiz: If you like the Foo Fighters and want to get into Against Me! (who actually toured with FF for a while), I would recommend checking out their latest album, New Wave. It has a polished rock-n-roll feel that is easily accessible.

Hi People!

I have been looking for some really good music to listen to. Mainstream or Indie, doesn't matter to me. I'm a rock fan normally, but will try anything once. Foo Fighters and Linkin Park are two of my favorites atm, but I listen to pretty much everything (yes, even some country thanks to my girlfriend). I really don't know ANY good DJ's b/c I've been out of the scene for a while, but I love to shake it on the dance floor.

Any help would be appreciated! Just list the band or song and I'll check them out.

Thanks!

If foo fighters and linkin park are your favourites, I can tell you right now, you would like NONE of the aural recordings i listen to.

Everyone who asks for a band recommendation, I always suggest the band Opeth, and as far as tracks, anything from the album Blackwater Park. Its a good starting point.

You've listed all run of the mill black metal bands, I see no Opeth or Death, a little disappointed.
I don't consider Opeth really "black" metal so to speak...and they're not one of my favs.

And Death...you got me there, I totally forgot about them. Shame on me.

Name me some black metal bands that aren't "run of the mill", I could use something new.

Well, if Metallica is as hard as you get, then I would recommend you some more mainstream rock. Try Arctic Monkeys, The White Stripes (Jack White is a GENIUS), Pantera.
LE: Queens of the Stone Age. They have some pretty decent catchy music. Also try the classics, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, The Beatles, The Who etc..
