So for the past hour I've been looking for a game to buy and I've decided I need your help.
Hoping to get something off of GOG or Steam, and I don't believe in buying hard-copies.

Heres a list of what I own on steam
-company of heroes(and the expansion packs love this game, and will shit my pants when number 2 comes out!)
-Dead island(Didn't enjoy it that much)
-Dead rising 2(Loved the first and this one is pretty awesome too)
-Dead Space(Lots of games beginning with dead, bought this on a lark found it okay haven't completed yet)
-Deus Ex: Human Revolution(and the expansion found it to be fun)
-Empire Total war(Big fan of the total war series and to save time have all of them already)
-From dust(Blaahhh it was an okay game but the DRM gave me nightmares)
-Grand theft auto(like all of them, thank you steam summer sale! enjoy the series)
-Far Cry 2(Okay game can't seem to find the end to it though)
-Half-life 1 & 2 + expansions for 1(Big fan can't wait for number 3 haha)
-Hitman bloodmoney( Only hitman game I actually like)
-Mass effect 1 and 2(Couldn't get 3 off of steam so it wasn't worth)
-Tropico 4(Fun game)

GoG list
-dungeon keeper 2(Childhood favorite)
- Evil genius(had fun with this game)
- The guild(love this game after buying it on a whim)
- Stronghold(favorite castle building game)
- second sight(Its a game)
- Giants: Citizen Kabuto(funny game, though hard to get into)

So escapist thanks for the help in advance!

Can you be a little more specific? I don?t even know what types of games you like . but whatever, here are some random games I own

S.T.A.L.K.E.R ? if the idea of exploring a huge word that hates you with a passion sounds like your cup of tea I hardly recommend S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Stronghold 2 - Stronghold 2 caught a lot of shit for how buggy it was but when it works it?s just as awesome as the first game
dreamfall the longest journey ? I recently replayed this game and I have to say it still holds up as one of the best adventure games ever made
the chronicles of riddick escape from butcher bay - one of my favored old action /stealth games
darwinia - strategy at it?s best
flatout 1/2 - my favored racing games ever
hitman : blood money ? an adventure games for people who hate adventure games
painkiller ? a simple but bat shit insane shooter that you simply have to play
Psychonauts - a funny action adventure game from the people at double fine
starwars republic commando ? halo in the star wars universe
X1/X2/X3- some of the best space sims out there
I like RTS primarily but my taste vary as you can see by my list. Though I'll check out the stalker games! But before I buy gonna wait out and see what other people suggest.

If you like Company of Heroes then you could try out Dawn of War II Retribution.

Retribution is a standalone expansion with everything from the previous game + Chaos Rising expansion except the campaigns.

Darksiders 2 is great bang for your buck, 20-30 hours of content wrapped in amazing art and an enjoyable story.

You might also enjoy TW2 and Sleeping Dogs.

On GOG I'd recommend Sacrifice, a third person RTS like game where you are a sorcerer doing missions for a group of competing gods.

EDIT:

If you like Strategy, I can highly recommend getting XCOM: UFO Defense off steam (Not sure if on GOG) it's an awesome game :)

There is also Mount and blade on steam (Warband is the one you want) which is like an rpg and strategy thrown into some sort of conquest.

Finally since I'm completely obsessed with the games, I am obliged to mention the Baldurs gate series off GoG.

Ehhnn... I'd say DoW 1 is a better fit for a CoH fan. DoW 2's lack of base building really throws a lot of traditional RTS players.

It is indeed an awesome game but it's turn based not real time.

I'm pretty sure you mean "heartily", not "hardly". XD

Not sure if you already made a purchase, but I must recommend my favorite strategy game since sins of a solar empire, "Warlock: Master of the Arcane". It's only like $20 on steam without a discount. It's a 4X turn based strategy game that works alot like Civilization 5, except nowhere near as much city micromanagement. There is alot of unique aspects to the gameplay, spellcasting for one, and a heavy focus on military, my favorite part. Definitely worth at least checking out a video review to get an idea for yourself.

You don't like buying the actual disk? WHAAAAAAT? Have we reached the point in our gaming evolution that some of us don't like that little thrill when we open the game fresh from the package (which is like trying to break out of prison sometimes...).

Nah, I'm just kidding. I'm kind of the same way now.

OT: I've been playing the Splinter Cell series trying to become better at stealth games. I would recommend Chaos Theory to you. Out of all of them I had the best time with that one.

Also, if you want something different, play either Psychonauts or Sword and Sworcery. Both games made me giggle many manly giggles.
