What are your most regretted gaming purchases?

here is my list:

1)super mario galaxy;
the controls felt awful when navigating on the planets, and were even worse in the water, and the co-op mode was bullshit.

I traded it in for frontlines: fuel of war, a slightly less shitty game(which I sold three weeks later)

2)mercenaries 2;

I preordered this game and I got a buggy mess.
I had to get xbox live to get the patches and the cheat codes to let me wreak even more havoc, like in the first game.

I sold it, along with a few other games to pay for modern warfare 2.

3)the Wii;

Do I really need to explain this?*

And to make it worse, I can't sell it because my family uses it as well.

4)psychonauts

I know I'm going to recieve a lot of hate for this, but let me explain:

[spoiler/]I just finished playing brutal legend, and I loved it.

I remembered Yahtzee saying that he didn't like brutal legend, but he loved psychonauts, so I decided to buy it from the live marketplace, and it was pretty good through most of it, and it was fun solving the problems using my wit, and my psychic powers.

Until I got to the last level.

Then it turned into a test of how long I could keep myself from eating my own fingers in frustration.

[spoiler/]that fucking kid just would stay in one place so I had to keep chasing him and his fat fucking rabbit, and every time it just gets harder to get to him.

And I know I'm going to recieve even more hate for this as well, but yes, I did try using the cheat codes, and I still couldn't do it.

And I have a 12 gig hard drive, and psychonauts takes up almost 4 gigs of memory, so I had to delete all of my Fallout 3 data.

I guess this is what you get for asking for the halo 3 edition for christmas.

OT: I'm always quite careful when I make purchases. I try before I buy where possible. If i can't try, I watch as many gameplay videos as possible. Plus I rarely buy games at full price.

I am a very, very, VERY cheap bastard, but I did just get $220 for christmas, so I guess I could go get a new hard drive and some memory cards, to transfer the data.

Infinite Undiscovery - Eh where to begin, the story was .... well BLEH is the best way to say it i guess, the control system was clunky and unresponsive and the voice acting....squeeky and planted urges in my head about filling my ears with silly putty in protest X_x Not to mention the main character has as much depth as a piece of paper -__-

Wartech Senko Ronde - Graphics were ok but thats where the good points stop x.x £25 for something that looks like a epic ZOE remake turned into a spinning around each other hammering A or B till you or the other guy falls over. The main story lines for each character contain like 5 fights..... and the same boss fight at the end no matter who you play.

It's true, the Meat Circus is by far the hardest level, but its far from impossible.

With little Oli, you need to use Telekinesis to grab his rabbit so that he can catch it. It's a pretty simple excersise, the trick to it is timing, as if you screw up you have to start from the beginning again. Just make sure that he gets injured the least amount possible, and within a few tries you'll get it.

I hate to say it, but there's a harder bit to come. Good luck.

OT though, buying a Far Cry/Ghost Recon double pack over Resident Evil 4/Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. Sure, Ghost Recon was alright, but for fuck's sake, Far Cry is the only game I have not been able to bring myself to finish. Sure, it looks nice, and the open jungle levels are great the first time or so, but it gets repetitive and difficult so quickly, not to mention the god-awful voice acting.

I thought it was every bit as frustrating as the final level in psychonauts.

luckily, I only rented it.

I did not have that luxury with psychonauts.

Well without knowing which part in particular you're getting stuck on its hard to say. It's just practice, I was able to do it within three or four tries on my first playthrough. If you get through all the obstacles on your first or second go you'll have plenty of time to save Oli, as his health regens each time he flies to a new level. Seek out a FAQ or playthrough video maybe.

Far Cry 1 does get very hard later on, but I still loved the everliving fuck out of it.

See, it was just more that I didn't give a shit about what happened. Jack Carver came across as a douchebag to me, and yeah, it was pretty fun in parts, but it just didn't motivate me at all to finish the game. If I had that motivation I probably would have slugged through it.

Come to think of it, I gave up on Halo in the same way. Goddamn fucking library.
