Well now, when people say "OMG", I scream "Oh my God it's the same syllables and saves you no extra time to say!" and punch them in the torso moderately hard. If they're a girl I give them the middle finger.

Yeah language changes, but abbreviation to language are just that, you just don't fucking speak them. Abbreviate names, sure, like IP is much easier than Internet Protocol. But OMG or LOL in common spoke language represents lesser intelligence - just how many people with decent jobs / education actually say these? Answer: None.

Facebook becoming outdated is obvious, but unless it can show itself as the most secure form of social networking; and can prove it can maintain that statement, I will not be signing up.

Physical purchases of media will still exist, just on a much, much smaller scale. The only place I know now that still sells music by disc is HMV. They're still doing well but it has no competitors except the online market, which isn't really direct competition.

Here's one for you, for free: Sure, 3DTVs are on sale now and there are now 3DTV channels/cinema, but it will flop soon. Japan invested $4bil. into holoTV (or as I like to called it, true 3DTV; not that illusion 3D shit on sale today), which is holographic projection very much like in Star Trek, Mass Effect, Halo etc.
HoloTV is in it's prototype stage, so we will be seeing it on the market in 4-5 years time.

Oh, you mean the one I cause after I test my doomsday weapon and it works far better than I thought it would?

Yeah, sorry about that everyone. Well, not really, but still.

3D will pass as a fad... like 30 years earlier and 30 years before that.... it cycles.

i conned you out of it during sexytime.

Well Now: i doubt game shops will vanish. what about pre-owned discounts, or lowering the prices to compete with the other shops? or reward cards? or old console games?
what you said about language makes sense.
The problem is, I read somewhere on this site that select game developers are beginning to move towards killing the used game industry and all of these things EXCEPT reward cards and old console games that you mentioned are solved by download distribution. Every game they make that is download exclusive has the benefit of not requiring developement and distribution. They don't have to deal with shipping or worrying about stores selling them early.

The only problems with download distribution is likely advertising although I'm sure they'll figure something out. Also it alianates those without internet and those who only buy used but I don't think that's enough to stop them.

with pure digital distribution though piracy will probably get worse. we wont want that.

Hey, some of us just cant learn nice handwriting. I always had some asshole teachers who tried to give me bad grades or brand me as dyslexic despite having perfect spelling and being one of the most lyrical kids around. Having a holier-than-thou on a skill thats both unnecessary and going out of use is just douchey.

Well now, I do agree with most of it except one thing: Book stores are still around and awesome! Just, you know, there's only the "big ones" still left. The ones with a Starbucks. However, they do seem to be doing rather well.

As I read through this wall of text, the phrase "YEAH LIKE, NO SHIT, FORTUNE TELLER" kept echoing in my mind. Basically you just talked about what is already being generalized, which can be summed up with "COMPUTERS, WOO, GET PSYCHED".

My prediction:

The percentage of atheists will increase (as it is doing now).

By the way, I got your shipment of Uranium here.
Did you want those in rods or bars? Either way is fine by me.

@ Abbreviation - Well now, it's true it as an impression only does suggest lesser intelligence but it's just a change that is going to happen. Like I said 60 years ago people would get irritated when their child said "Can't or Isn't" and would treat them the way we treat people who say these acronyms now. Like "OMG just say Oh my god!" XD (That's a joke btw) The next step is adding smilies to our verbal conversations!

Yes, that is why the game companies will hire hackers to find these pirates and fine them for the stuff they stole or ban their account. We can call them NINJAS XD

Can I get it in helixes? I theorize those would work best. If not, rods will be fine.

Its pretty hard to have a well paying job and supreme education when you are 15 fucking years old. Because thats the average age of people who use "lol" or "omg" in regular conversation.

Seriously, I dislike the trend too, but the way you prance around on your high horse.... Jesus kid, calm down.
I wasn't talking about kids, they will do silly things. I'm talking about the sub-intelligent people of this planet. The 20-something year old's who actually speak it. I hang out with middle class and lower class people, some of my "Chav" friends would even agree with me entirely that LoL in common language is shit-speak and even get aggressive with others who use it. I'm not on a high horse, here; just stating observations.

Anyway, I thought horses prance, not the people sat on them; and who's "Jesus Kid"?

1. Radio Shacks, Blockbuster Videos and Bookstores still exist. Some are fewer in numbers than others, but they are still around.

2. Book stores probably won't go away for a lot longer than you think. Print is still a form of conveyance that doesn't depend on power to work, doesn't disappear due to a bug in the system or get corrupted by a bad fall (unless you drop your book in the toilet). Also while the e-readers are still hilariously overpriced, print books will still sell better.

3. On the subject of Gamestop/EB/game stores in general... I don't see digital distribution replacing retail stores completely. There are plenty of people who don't like using the internet to buy things with their credit/debit cards, whether out of fear of their CC#'s getting jacked or just simple disgust for laziness or something else. Retail stores may dwindle in number but I don't see physical merchandise outlets being "a thing of the past".

Well then...I have no problems with people making prediction posts because honestly by the time any of this is either proven or disproven no one will remember this one post anyway.

I just have a question; is it lonely up there on your pedestal? (Only kidding)

It seems to me your predictions of people getting mad about this post are a bit off the mark. Challenging the education level of readers can merit some unpleasant responses, but as far as the actual predictions you made, I can't possibly see how someone could be "offended" by any of it.

They could disagree certainly, I don't think it'll be on moral principle. I will give you that it is fun to think about how the future could turn out. You've given me a fun writing exercise for this afternoon.

*I predict that in 20 years, America Will be speaking Spanish and will have a second civil war because of queers trying to destroy the sanctity of marriage.

Now THAT is an offensive prediction.

*Again, kidding, I don't actually think this'll happen.

So, you have proven that you have the power to predict the painfully obvious? That might sound ruder than I intended, but what can you do? As far as everything you have stated, it will probably happen, but I believe that, as society becomes more digitized, there will be a greater degree of economic equalization due to decreasing entry costs into various businesses.

then people will be in an uproar about how people are accessing their computer's private files. and how will the ninjas know who downloaded the torrent without spying on people who might have got the game legitimately?

^_^ Well now, I don't intend to offend, but I've posted seemingly modest questions before and gotten torn down hard for the audacity and it was pretty jarring. I'm just like "Why are so many people insulting me, my religion, my sexual preference and wishing death upon my family when all I said was Cassandra's shield jab is cheap?!" o_O?!

And this seems to be a trend that happens almost reliably when I post my thoughts on anything. Personally I too cannot see how this could offend people but I can't see how saying something something like "What's wrong with liking My Little Pony." or "Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 isn't worth paying $60 if you already own Black Ops." would offend someone either. ^_^ They didn't make the game, and I paid just as $60 to buy it as they did and I stated this but that didn't stop them from hating ^_^
