Having never played a Prince of Persia game before, I picked up Sands of Time and proceeded to enjoy myself quite a lot. The art and storytelling style, the cocky and oblivious Prince, the acrobatic puzzle-solving style of gameplay, all of it was enjoyable. The fighting was a bit clonky, but I figured that shouldn't really be a problem as there wasn't much of it. Then I found my dad and proceeded to die in excessive amounts. Then I put it away and never touched it again. Bleah.
The next game I will name, explain and justify all in one word: Duriel.
On the plus side, I picked up Odin Sphere again today after being stuck on Beldor the Sorcerer for the longest goddamn time. A few months ago I spent an inordinate amount of time dying repeatedly to that beardy palette-swapped jerk, got frustrated and eventually quit. Yesterday I picked it up again (lured in by the visuals... so pretty... sparkly fairy pretty princess shiny jewel wait what now?), jogged into the fight and beat him in under three minutes. I don't know either.
