Star Fox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet. In the supposed "feat of strength" against Musclefoot, which is required to advance the game.

What it is is rapidly tapping a button to push and enemy into a pit. I just could not beat him.

I believe it was due to a hardware problem as I passed the test before when I rented the game. It certainly wasn't me because I can tap faster than the console can register.
I did it first time, and it's not because I'm good at button bashing. I reckon your controller is screwed.

Incidently, what a terrible game. Why did Rare have to totally shit on their Nintendo legacy?

Please tell me I'm not the only one here who's played Dark Cloud. It's a great little RPG gem, it's different from the normal turn-based stuff. It's fun, give it a try.
Anyway, my "I Quit!" moment was on Dark Cloud. Last boss, I just couldn't do it. Three Forms, and nearly all of them are bitches to pass. Then I gave up for about... 1-2 years. Still haven't completed it.
You're not alone. I've played it too, and that's exactly as far as I've gotten. Bleah.
Same here. I gave up on that damn boss because I couldn't switch attributes fast enough and didn't do much damage even when I did >< (I hope I'm thinking of the right game here ^^)
So I spent a whole year upgrading all my weapons to their maximum forms and tried again.
After about 4 tries I got it ^^ I was so damn glad.
..What pissed me off after that is I did not understand the ending at all ¬_¬

In the first Chronicle of Narnia game there is a 3 tiered level with 3 separate objectives, all of which are simultaneous and involve combat. That run on their own timers and if any of the timers wind down completely you lose. On top of that the timers all speed up after every time you resolve the situation AND which timer starts up is random.

There were points where I had one timer go off which would in order for me to get to it would force me to travel the screen 3 times (going from bottom to top tier) AND then just as I got to the top tier countdown (not even having resolved it yet) the bottom tier countdown would begin with 6 seconds to resolve it.

Eat me, eat me so hard Disney Corp.

I want the 50 hours of my life I spent attempting to get past that part back please.

Oh my god

I WASN'T the only one.
seriously?...
that wasn't anywhere near a hard part in the game.
I think my time for beating him was like..5 seconds or something.
and that's when I was a youngster.
I've never beaten any of the splinter cell games.
I HATE stealth, and those games just bored me having to restart every 5 minutes cause I triggered an alarm.

Not trying to brag or anything but I've beaten all the levels on the hardest level 100%

What are you doing wrong?

Oh, that was a horrible experience. I then got mad, gave the controller to my dad, who never plays games and he beat it on the first try! =(

I later learned if you move a pen back and forth between the Y aand X buttons and to the other side of the A button it's incredibly easy. Try that.

I have had more than a few of those moments, where to start?

my least favorite was the battle with slash in GH3, after about the millionth defeat, the game insulted me and asked if I wanted to skip it, I put the game down after that and never picked it back up.

It would'nt have been nearly as bad if the game didd'nt call me a peon and said I needed a hug

Skrew you GH3

The last level of Black on Hard. Jeez is that a long, difficult level. How many guys with RPGs can be in one building? And not just one building, one room? I'm telling you, those were very well armed terrorists. Why didn't they just buy the world, rather than try to take it by force?
Needless to say, I never finished it. But maybe I'll go and have another go at it now.

First thing that comes to mind is the last boss in Killzone: Liberation (with the downloadable fourth act, that is). What a *****.

What else?

The last boss in Mechassault 2 is not only obscenely hard in comparison to the rest of the game, but is also just fucking ridiculous. I mean, I always thought Battletech was supposed to be really gritty and relatively believable.... then... OMGWTF 9000 TON ATLAS WITH LASER EYE BEAMS!?

The very first part of Prince of Persia: Warrior Within... shitty gameplay is shiiiitty....

The end of the second to last level in Far Cry Instincts is absolutely sadistic. No other escort mission compares to its controller-shatteringly infuriating difficulty, at least none that I've played.

The mission where you race the fat guy in GTA:VC. I just used cheats, and even then it was hard. This is actually the reason I will never buy a GTA game for PC again.

Ah, last Alien level in AvP2. Can't forget that. It's hard enough to fight one Predator with magical plasma bolts than feel like they can outmanuever a hummingbird on crystal meth, but two, in an open space? Fuck you, devs.

I'll still buy them but that was ridiculously hard. I set up an obstacle course of burning wrecks, shot his back tyre out and he STILL beat me round the course, time and time again.

The thing is... GTA with a keyboard just sucks. Yes, you can aim with a mouse, which is nice, but you have to drive like an old woman who has forgotten that the gas pedal does not have to be pressed all the way to the floor to make the car go. I buy all my GTA games on consoles now.

Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, in the 3rd boss fight. I never could beat Fluffy after burning all the fur off. Went back a year later and tried it again, and beat it first try.

Also, Onimusha: Warlords, once you're in the wall puzzle area with Kaede. I messed up somewhere and got lost on my best save file. I walked off and didn't touch it for 3 months.

one of my mates, not my moment

playing dragonquest 8 on his PS3, came up against the octopus (i beleive it spoke like 10 different languages?) with his character and Yann or whoever your companion is on that game.

he trained for ages and ages, but every time he attacked this thing he got wiped out, pretty simply because he was hitting max 9's, Yann was hitting max 7's, and this squid was hitting up to about 15's. Being a single player game, i sat back and watched, read the manual etc.

About an hour later "Ah, f*** this, I can't be a*sed, you want a go?". I take up the controller and I do something that in the weeks of attacking this thing, he hasn't thought of.

Instead of hitting attack, I hit phsyche. I get both characters to phyche for 5 moves, during which time they lose around 45 hp. My mate's sitting at the side saying "What the hell are you doing?!?!". I click attack, and immediately do 245hp for his character, and 322hp for Yann, killing the octopus immediatly. Never have I felt so relieved for something like that paying off. It earnt me the rank of "the strategist" amongst my mates. It was always me who co-ordinated attacks on those few months on wow, always me who they came to when they couln't beat stuff outright. yeah, good times
