I finally, about 3 hours ago, saw the Dark Knight for the first time with my girlfriend, and in all honesty I can say this is probably the most overrated movie in recent memory (rivaled only by the likes of Slum Dog Millionaire).

Now I had no intention of ever watching this movie, because the Joker "fan base" pissed me off to no end. I think it's safe to say I can tell what kind of person you are if you have anything that says "Why so serious?" and know we have nothing in common, and can never be friends.

Ranting aside, can anyone please point out why this movie is good? Or better yet, explain why people are so obsessed over it? Sure, the "OMGHEATHLEDGER" trend lasted about 2 months, but it still wasn't deserved.

Just wondering if I'm the only person who didn't enjoy this film?

You might be. I thought it was quite good. Action, some drama, but the main girl dying I found very irrelevant and dumb.

Of course I must add that the first time I saw it in theatres was the first time I made out with someone and got a girlfriend. So that may add to my...enthusiasm about the film.

The main girl dying was NOT irrelevant!! It's why Harvey Dent basically turned into Two-Face! He blamed the others for not saving her, causing him to go on a crazed killing spree. Without her death, he would of been scarred, but otherwise would of made it.

Yeah unfortunately, you probably had this movie spoiled for you. I went to see it, it was good and I enjoyed it, but it didn't get one of those special slots in my head where great movies in my mind rest. V for Vendetta, Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, Pulp Fiction, those all sit up there.

I had the exact same experience with Napoleon Dynamite, I saw it about a year after it came out and by the time I got to see it, all the punchlines were cliches by then.

I thought it was decent the first time I watched it, but that was before I took the time to think about all the problems with the plot and characters. Currently, I'm with you.

Wow. Not only do you think Dark Knight is overrated, but also Slum Dog Millionaire. What do you also think The Godfather and Alien are overrated too? Dark Knight was probably the best superhero movie ever, and there is so much attention to detail in that movie. Everything was crafted amazingly from cinematography to sound editing. And it was paced so well unlike a lot of other movies which have disappointed me in recent years.

I didn't really like it, I didn't really like Batman Begins, or Tim Burtons batman movies. It's not that I dislike batman it's just that I grew up watching that oh so classic Batman: the movie so I was given the mindset of batman being this bright, colourful character along with the villians (Which they were). Though the hype really pissed me off, Heath Ledger? Who cares about heath ledger, he was a nobody in the films industrie, emmy awar winning? It's a fucking comic book movie, that's what pissed me off so badly with Watchmen.

I thought it was good but I also believe in to each their own opinion.

If you did not like it you did not like it. Nothing wrong with that.

This just in. Someone went into a movie with a negative attitude and came out displeased. Stop the presses!

Trust me you are not alone, I thought this movie was ok when I walked out of the theater, but after all that Joker shit with the Hottopic "emo" girls it really made me hate the movie. It was about an hour too long, Batman fell into every obvious trap, and the movie was just boring as hell from start to finish.

I wouldn't say it's the "best movie ever" but it's tied for the "best Batman movie ever". I like the Tim Burton movies because they are attached to my childhood but that's about it. It has my vote because it's a better sequel than most.

The main girl dying might be the movie trying to appeal to the female fanbase. They either picture themselves or the joker in her place.

I'm one who prefers the latter.

Actually from a purely cinematic view, the Dark Knight is average, with some neat Special effects. I am willing to bet anything I own, that had that guy not died, this movie would be significantly less popular.

As for Slum Dog, that movie is a hilarious joke.
basically, to sum it up for someone who has never seen it...

They won't stop! We have tried everything. We may have to stop them manually.
