However, I really don't like Lord of the Rings.

Snap. I didn't like the books either. SO much discussion of the scenery. Pages and pages about the landscape. Then they go to a tavern and sing songs. Songs about Boron and Glorin and their father Dorin and his father Rovin and then when they finally finish singing it's back out into the fucking scenery again.

I don't like people who don't do any research/have any insight into what it is they have an opinion or judgement about.

Argh! This. I hate people who say 'well it's my opinion'. You CAN have a stupid unfounded opinion. OK, it can't technically be *wrong* but it can be really really daft.

I also don't see the point in saying 'in my opinion' on a forum really. It's obviously your opinion. You didn't get it from the Wikipedia page of Commonly Used Opinions.

I do like Donnie Darko. But only a healthy amount.

I really didn't like District 9, I don't know why so many people did. I also really dislike people who justify their arguments with "that's just my opinion", as if that somehow makes them immune to criticism. And JRPGs. I've just never been able to get into them.

I read all the songs etc for the first half of the first book. When I started skipping the songs/scenery descriptions I found I got through the rest a lot faster. But I'll admit a terrible truth, I've only read the first one. So no doubt if I moved onto the second and third I'd be completely lost.

Would it have killed him to throw a few jokes in? That's not fair though, because I say that about every book that I deem too serious. So really, I should just stop reading serious books.
