I Really Hate Limited Releases

I can understand why there are limited releases, but it doesn't make me any less angrier about missing out on movies that sound amazing. Last year it was Moon and this year it's Buried. I really enjoyed Moon, and I was really excited about seeing Buried, till I found out that wasn't going to be released anywhere near here. Now I have to wait three months for it to come out on DVD. So I ask you people, is there a movie that you really wanted to see, but it turned out to be a limited release?

Kick-Ass skipped over my town, as did Zombieland.

I went fucking insane.

When Zombieland came out on DVD I got it on release, planning on just renting Kick-Ass over XBL, it comes out as the exact same cost as renting the bastard in my town anyway.

I am very lucky to live right outside Philadelphia. This means that mostly all limited release films are accessible to me. I do hate the hassle of having to drive a little farther than I normally would, but that is about it.

I know... I wanna see that Yu-Gi-Oh 3D movie, but I'm unsure of whether it's gonna come to my cinema, which it probably won't.

Oh I'm sorry, do you want me to complain about the likes of Kick-Ass and Zombieland? Well, nope they came to my theatre fine, so that Yu-Gi-Oh movie (In 3D) is the only thing really I can talk about. I COULD talk about Scott pilgrim but that was just taken away because not enough people were watching it, and let me tell you, if it's as good as I think it looks and everyone says then I will be very angry at the general population of England.

Me too we tend to get most big American stuff so we're still getting Buried but last year we didn't get The Road or Precious, two movies I really wanted to see.

I guess my city has four good cinemas, including one that's great for odd foreign (read: European) films. Spoilt for choice, but would hate it if films skipped out my city just 'cause. Sympathy for you guys!

Relgious (film making fun of guess what?)was shown anywhere near me. But that was due to most cinemas considering the film an unneccesssary risk. The places that did show it had metal detectors outside

I'm lucky enough to live in a town with 2 cinemas, one of which specialises in arthouse or cult films.

For the most part, Austin, Texas has been lucky with movie releases, with Austin Film Society being a big part of the movie industry. Also, the Alamo Drafthouse is fairly famous.

I went to see it this weekend, but then again that was in a major city...
Anyway, it's out on DVD next month.

OT: I've missed out on several films that only got limited releases before I moved closer to an actual city...although in a bizarre twist my local cinema was the only cinema in the area showing the first Yu-Gi-Oh! movie.

Don't include me in that generalisation - I went to see it, and I plan to buy the DVD in the most special form they release it in. After buying all the graphic novels, of course.

I was pissed that the remastered Metropolis with the 45 minutes added that no one had seen since the '20s wasn't going to be shown in my area.

I did get to see Moon in the theater though.

Unfortunately, I don't get many good movies in either my hometown or the town 18 miles over.

If I want to see it, I have to go four hours out of my way to see something. Trust me, if I was made of money, I would, but I don't have cash to see Scott Pilgrim, so I have to wait for it on DVD (C'mon November!)
