I really like Movie Bob

I like movie bob (so homo) his shows are quite funny and interesting. Nothing really bad to say about his vids. There nothing overly special but there by no means bad.

OT: I preferred Moviebob when he was doing Game Overthinker, and even then, I haven't watched one of them since v22. To me he's just an angry comic book fanboy now, I haven't watched his Transformers or Green Lantern reviews because I know they will just be filled with him ragging on how the films are bad because he's already decided that they're bad because they are poor comic book adaptations. But even in his "Fan boy free break downs" I still can't take him seriously.

He's actually still pretty cool, he did a sweet story arc on TGO that was more for him than us but it made his TGO show feel fresh, I really can't wait for the next episode to see what he'll think of next... it was thoroughly entertaining stuff!

I watch Escape to the Movies and The Big Picture every week. He has a lot of great information, but he comes off as far too cynical for my taste. I don't think I'd ever want to hang out with him, but I certainly enjoy watching his videos.

Movie Bob's videos are excellent. Every one makes a valid and compelling argument on whatever he's talking about.

On the other hand, it does sound awful everytime he uses the voice changer, or even just uses a different voice from his normal one.

I like his shows on the Escapist for the most part, there are some annoyances here or there but overall it's fine. I can't stand Game Overthinker though, there are some good episodes, but his blatant bias towards Nintendo, and the new story arc added to the show make it unwatchable. Worst one would probably be the episode where he talked about FPS games. He comes off as really condescending in those videos and it's just not very fun to watch.

I never thought of the "no homo" thing as an insult towards gay people. I thought it was a way to say "in a non-romantic, non-sexual way" faster, since not being gay automatically means it's not in a romantic or sexual way. Doesn't mean that if you were gay it automatically would be, though.
Case in point: when I read the title, which had been edited by then, I assumed the person meant they had a crush on Bob (although I didn't assume they were gay because I didn't assume a gender). So there you go. "In a platonic way" might have hit a nerve less than "no homo" though I guess.

Anyways. I really like MovieBob. He's intelligent and cultivated, and I like hearing his opinion even when I disagree with him. Unlike some other posters, I'd love to hang out and talk about stuff, I think it would be really interesting for me (probably less so for him. Then again, he'd probably enjoy the attention and being able to talk about stuff he likes for hours). I always look forward to more stuff from him. I think what I prefer is the Big Picture. Reviews are nice and all but they can be reviews of something I'm not interested in at all to begin with AND he says sucks, so in the end the review ends up useless. I'm more interested in more general comments, or more factual descriptions of a story, etc.

The Game Overthinker is cool too. I'm not too interested in the story but I like the content so I figure I'll stick around and maybe I'll warm up to the story or something.

American Bob is okay. In theory it could interest me a lot but a lot of what he says, I'm just "duh" except some stuff for which I think "lolwut". Either way, it's not really making me think about stuff much, but maybe it will with different subjects in the future.

And finally, I think I like his written stuff best. Well with a few exception. His favourite piece of mine was the one about the Oscars shunning Batman. I love what he says and I love the way he says it. And I love how he gets so passionate that he loses his fake accent to go back to the real one.

Oh, side note, awesome long coat that he's got. I really dig it.

To answer your question, I think Bob has a lot of fans. We're nothing special or unique or anything like that. He could probably start a cult if he wanted.

well i have only recently started watching/listening to him, and i reckon he is a dick, however he is entertaining, knowledgeable and provides solid arguments, so i do enjoy what he does, but i dont exactly agree with him on everything, nor do i need to. the hate for him just comes from the people who dont share his view and take his insults to heart

I like what Moviebob has to say except for when he starts to make fun of people in his videos for liking certain movies that he finds to be stupid. Everyone likes what they like and it's not really funny to mock them for it.

He's at his worst when he's being negative and opinionated.

His great strength as an entertainer and critic are in sharing movie, comic and geek trivia, minutia and cultural obscurities.

He completely fails as an entertainer and critic when he starts ranting and being negative - He just can't marry negative diatribes and humor like Yahtzee, as a convenient peer.

I really enjoy Bob's reviews/critiques but if it's a movie I really want to see I'll sometimes wait until after I've seen it before I watch.

Basically he's the kind of guy I wouldn't want to go to ANY movie with the first time I watch it. But I love analyzing movies the second+ time I see them.
