Spoiler: Spoilers because it could ruin a bit

We were going along, doing what Journey people do, jumping, running, having run, pinging one another. Eventually it came to the point where we had to be stealthy because of the snake dragon things on the mountain. So we're running, hiding, it's going well, he was going a little bit ahead of me but we were all hidden nice and well.
And then I got spotted.
My heart basically exploded and my only reaction was to run the fuck away all the way back down, beaten, bruised, my scarf was ruined and my friend was gone. I was alone. But then... I wasn't. This guy had gone all through the stealth section to come back to me, let my character get his scarf and warmth (or something, I forget how that works), and then we went back up together, not getting spotted this time.
At the final bit we flew around one another and had a grand old time. Sent some messages, and that was that. Still amazing.

Once upon a time in Liberty City, there was a bus. A schoolbus, but not a school for little children, no. At this school there were hardcore gangbangers, bikers, prostitutes and terrorists.

And they went all over Liberty City, not performing acts of terror or commiting crimes. No, they were on a guided tour of liberty city! And they went all over, sixteen people in a bus, fifteen students and one tour guide. Chatting in the bus and overwhelming the poor tour guide.

Their journey did not last long, there is only so much to see in liberty city. But what a fun experience it was, an hour spent chatting about everything between heaven and earth, and a trip that ended at the lcoal burger shot. Where we had ourselves a little party.

Yeah, me and sixteen other players ended up in a weird short of roleplaying experience. Where a person turguided us through liberty city, and we ended up at burger shot for a little party. No violence at all, we even followed the rules of the road.

It was tons of fun, I made fifteen friends that day.

Joking aside, yeah, it's a pretty unique experience, I've never played anything like it, and the silent coop was a work of genius.

And the music? Man, as soon as that album came up on iTunes, I snapped that bad boy up

not online. my experience with online people with their anonymity have all been either self centered or the standard type of kind[footnote]as in playing a support class effectively.[/footnote].

i have experienced this kind of thing from people in the physical world before though. i never asked for any of it, but during my own journey some people would just give me money or food or transportation. i did not beg, nor did i advertise myself as homeless. one stranger in particular even went so far as to practically adopt me. he took me in, fed me, gave me clothes, access to his facilities, and even an apprenticeship, and i never asked for any of it.
all of those people won't soon be forgotten.

I found beautiful stuff in skyrim. While I was rinding through the south birch forests while the sun set... beautiful. My first time entering blackreach blew my mind.

I've wanted to play journey, but, buying a console for a single game... is not a good idea.

Aw, that's a really cute story. I'm hoping that maybe Journey might come out on the Vita someday. Then maybe I can have experiences just like this.

Not quite the same as the OP but I've had moments of kindness in MMO's in the past that showed me that the internet is not all trolls and swearing.

Playing FF11 first, had just started, having trouble killing things was getting more and more frustrated with the game when a higher level player saw the trouble I was having and messaged me asking if I was ok, I said no I was having trouble getting the hang of it

The next 3 hours he spent with me, explaining the jobs, mechanics, how to do x,y and z and was incredibly patient. When I had to leave he said "one last thing before you go" and bought me a set of armor from the auction house then added me to his friends list

Haven't played that game in over 8 years but that still sticks in my mind, he was max level, he could have been doing anything in the world but he took the moment to spend time with a guy who had just started

The other was in WoW, during Wrath of the Lich King, I was in howling fjord on my Draenei Shaman to the south doing the quests for the pirates, saw a blood elf had pulled an elite and a few other mobs and was having real trouble, I headed over, helped him clear everything out, did a /bow emote since players can't communicate cross-faction and went on my way

About half a minute later I got a whisper from a guy explaining he was the father of the child playing the blood elf, wanted to thank me for taking the moment to help him out, he had been having a bad night with the game and many other players so to show him not everyone was bad meant a lot and wished me a pleasant evening, made me smile that such a simple thing could mean a lot to someone

I've gotten a lot of joy out of introducing people to Journey since it's come out. I didn't own a PS3 when it was released, so I talked my best friend into getting it. I was teary-eyed by the end of his first playthrough and eventually got my own PS3 so I could encourage other friends to play. While I've had plenty of good experiences gaming with strangers, I've never experienced anything as joyful as playing through Journey with a companion. Thatgamecompany put a lot of work into simplifying the experience-- early character designs had hands and even eyes that could be used to communicate-- and I think they've managed to tap into a sense of childlike wonder by removing all those unnecessary details.

(It makes for interesting commentary on the general modern focus on hyper-realism, eh? What was the point of "playing," again?)

I played it and none of this happened to me. The few characters I encountered were just kind of doing their own thing, so I just went on my way as well. I did 90% of the game alone cause the game just didn't match me up with anyone and when it did, I didn't really feel like we were helping each other at all.

Spoiler: I also basically figured out how the game was going to end 5 seconds after the intro.

It's pretty obvious you come from the mountain at the start, so I figured the game would just be a cycle of life/death. And it was. And it was boring for it.

I felt nothing from Journey, at all. I shut it off and forgot about it. It didn't help that I went in to it expecting to be completely blown away from all the rave reviews on the internet. To The Moon made me feel more in the first hour than all of Journey. I felt Journey was completely over-hyped and was a tremendous waste of money.
