I think that if GOW3 gets banned it will be another victory against the forces of crappy sequels. If you look at what games have been banned lately in Australia, or caused controversy, they all have one thing in common... they're all hastily rushed sequels that arguably should never have been released (or at least not so soon). Maybe the Australian government doesn't really care that much about violence, maybe they're just trying to protect us from bad gaming. Michael Atkinson is probably at a LAN right now.blanksmyname said:When I first heard that Left 4 Dead 2 was refused classification or banned or whatever in Australia, it came to me as no surprise. While I certainly wasn't predicting it to happen, learning that it did made perfect sense in my mind. I mean, those close combat weapons earned that R rating.
Now I think that the OFLC may do the same with God of War 3. Think about it. The game has technology that allows internal organs to move realstically after being torn out of a body. There's also been footage of Kratos pulling out eyes and ripping off heads. This is the sort of thing that might earn it an R rating and make Michael Atkinson rant about games training kids to be terrorists and serial killers. Also, blood can splatter on Kratos' skin, which I'd expect the OFLC to add in their report should they refuse the game's classification.
Hopefully I'm wrong, but we won't know till it is time for its classification.
What do you guys think?
Actually the problem with OFLC is the realistic depcition of violence, whereas zombies look human in both GOW (gears of war and god of war) the enemies clearly aren't anything resembling human. Which is probably what the colonists said when they tried to exterminate the indigenous folk...Gladion said:@Topic: It can possibly get banned, that's true, but on the other hand it's absolutely non-realistic, being set in a fantasy world that isn't even our time period.
Except its not something we can vote on. There is no public vote on who gets appointed South Australian Attorney-General.The Hairminator said:I think that you guys should learn how to vote properly.
On a more serious note, If L4D2 got banned God of War 3 is well within the red zone.
Revolution? To legalize games?Pararaptor said:It was either Labour or the even more conservative Liberal party. Who have the same policy on video games. The Hairminator said:I think that you guys should learn how to vote properly.

I think it is stupid, unfair and just wrong to treat the entire nation like children by saying that if it is to violent for children then it is therefore too violent for Australia.dls182 said:*snip* Atkinson is misguided. His reasoning for saying no is that he "doesn't want kids to be able to get their hands on adult content" (or words to that effect). However, this has, in some cases, made it easier for kids to access 'adult' content.*Snip* In short, it's not our fault one person is a douche.
Which is a load of bollocks; Kids at the age of 13-14 are off shooting/stabbing each other, watching porn and watching movies rated R +18 to begin with, so why the hell is it that we cant have games here for us Aussie who ARE over 18. I honestly don't know why Atkinson is even a Attorney General...dls182 said:Atkinson is misguided.
