I think I found the problem with game protagonists

and then right after you find the nano-forge theres that scene where mabye they are suposed to be establishign some kind of "romance.." I literally said outloud "oh for chirsts sake!" still it showed mason to have a little more charachter, though to be fair I dont think its suposed to go anywhere...

Funny you mentioned that as I just busted out Red Faction Armageddon last night, and of boy do they lay it on thick with the love interest.
The really bring out the big cheese guns for this one, the girl got pimped out (if there are curves why not put them on a silver platter...), and they flip a "tough girl" scene into "puppy eyes love" scene as the (main character with some name) turns up, they even pull out some 1950s romantic fiction movie theme song... my jaw just dropped at how corny that was
And later on every time she turns up they have her strike a girly pose... just so silly, I think that shit comes straight from the "white 30s man turns world savior" wish list.

The "middle of the road / gray" theme continues, the main character is completely gray and uninteresting, he has gray dialogue, gray jokes, doing gray tasks in a gray world, to please lots of gray people...
I really hope the developers are just incompetent at atmosphere because they can't be that dumb to think anyone is entertained by this gray sludge of a story.

it jsut fet kind of "tacked on" at that point because the only connection they seemd to have was her ranting about salavge

"I NEED more salavge mason"

"mason make sure you bring more salavge"

"see what a little salvage will get you?"

"salvage salvage SALVAGE" I guess she just doesnt have time for other interests
