I still watch his videos for a nice laugh when I'm bored, that being said, I wouldn't expect someone to keep their videos consistently funny without them running out of material. It must be annoying to have to speed run through a game and find faults, then make clever/witty snipes at them. Expecting him to always be funny through many videos is asking too much.

He's a lot like how I feel about the overthinker (moviebob) now as well, eventually I just got tired of him too. In Moviebob's case I got tired of him bringing up Super Mario 3 a hundred times in every videos, I mean how much of a Nintendo fanboy can you get?
=/
Yep, exactly my feelings about him as well. I didn't grow up with NES, so his "OMG gamesweresomuchbetterintheeighties" was extra-tiresome for me. And watching his videos was mostly about "oh look, someone else has similar opinions" anyway - i didn't get much education from them.

I wonder what would happen if you put Yahtzee and Moviebob (or better yet - their fanboys) in the same room, though.

I got tired of him because he never seems to change, after all this time and all the games he's reviewed he doesn't seem to have grown once as a gamer.

For instance since he's been reviewing I've come to appreciate a lot of games that I have played, and he still seems to have the same chip on his shoulder being discontent with most games as he always has.

But most unfortunately, he's become way too predictable, I don't even need to watch any of his videos because I already know exactly what he's going to say again and again.

Since when did he mention Super Mario 3?

[HEADING=2]Read the whole post before saying anything... this will save us a lot of trouble.[/HEADING]

Now, let the hate-spewing commence, and tell me what do you think: is this assertion true or false?
Umm, what "assertion" are you referring to? To the many opinion-based assertions concerning your individual problems with ZP, or to some intangible assertion that, although unstated in any statement format in your post, says that ZP has become bad? I mean, I get some of your assertions with tangible evidence, but what exactly is the point of this post? To show people that you are now above its immature humor? Because that's a livejournal entry right there, and honestly, most of the people here will continue to watch ZP regardless of the humiliation that comes with watching an obscure, subscription-free internet flash series about video games with a bunch of dick jokes in it, because NOBODY WILL KNOW WE'RE WATCHING IT UNLESS WE ACTUALLY GO OUT OF OUR WAY TO TELL THEM.

Umm... the assertion that ZP was witty back in the day, and now it has lost it's wit - or at least seems to.

And i'm not telling that i'm above ZP's immature humour, i'm telling that it's immature humour seems to be getting more blunt.

It used to be so funny....I think it got to sexist and just plain gross.I'm so glad I'm not the onyl one who thinks this.

On the bright side, if Rebecca Mayes has another go at Yahtzee, it'll be hilarious.

Understood. Thanks for the clarification.

I think it's because he's getting a little generic ..

In my opinion it was a mistake to make it a weekly thing: you have deadlines to worry about, you need to find and finish a new game every week and I imagine it can become a chore. I think the best thing would be if Yahtzee made the ZP videos freelance, but I understand everybody needs to make a living.

I watch ZP every week, it's still funny and sometimes intelligent but less so than in the beginning. I like to watch older episodes once in a while and they make me laugh more than the more recent ones so I doubt it's because I'm getting 'used to them'.

Still, less good ZP is still alot better than no ZP at all in my book.

The probable "inability" of Yahtzee to incorporate his usual dose of wit in the reviews may be due to the games he was reviewing. He may have a hard time thinking of something "good" to say about the game in his reviews because the games may have had some elements that he had already reviewed in the past.

The reason why I watch ZP is the same reason why I read reviews: to see if the product was good or not. And for me, he fulfills this, despite having some reviews bear too much sarcasm that you won't know if his review was positive or not.

His last review was a big disappointment because I actually want to play Singularity (It is one of the few games that has interested me with its Premise alone) and he threw the spoiler in there so I didn't actually watch the whole thing because I don't want to know what it is. I'd much rather guess it correctly after the first hour of game-play myself. It wasn't just that though, it was also the fact that it wasn't very funny or good in any real way. I will admit that he had had his rough spots here and there but I still have reckon he makes great videos and will continue to entertain me for some time to come.

I began to loose interest in people saying they've lost interest in ZP ages ago. You guys bore me to unprecidented levels.

I watch ZP because I appreciate the criticism: they may be not all that witty and funny anymore, but they show the game in a very blunt way, which I find valuable.

I still enjoy ZP, but I guess that's got more to do with the fact that the information I get from the videos has always been the biggest draw for me. I know he's unfairly nitpicky, but I see that as far more valuable than any other kind of review - if he doesn't mention a fault that would be game-breaking for me, then I know it's my kind of game. I get a lot of value out of it.

I also have no idea where all these recent accusations of misogyny are coming from. I've never felt any exclusive hatred towards women coming from him. Homophobia, I'd agree with, but misogyny? I don't know. He's hardly nice to women, but then, he's not nice to anyone.

His videos don't entertain me quite as much as they did when it was still fresh and new. They are still funny though, and I will watch them even though I never agree with anything Yahtzee ever says about a game. Cynicism isn't something that I relate to as I tend to appreciate and enjoy just about everything for what it is. So it's still mildly amusing listening to a professional cynic drone on about why a game that I think is terrific fun is actually terrible.

I think his best days are over, but he still amuses the hell out of me.
He is the reason that I'm currently making this post, actually, and it shows, because whenever I want to access the Escapist forums, I actually type "Zero Punctuation" into Google.
Go figure.
