Lego Rock Band. Need I say more?
Yes? Fine.
Have you ever played any of the non-Traveller's Tales games? Stuff like Lego Racers (brilliant) and Lego Island (also brilliant). They're incredibly kid-friendly and you could criticize the difficulty but building a robot with a witch's hat who drives a car with parrots on (the former) or changing someone's hair into a Chinese hat (the latter) will never ever get boring.
Loved Lego Star Wars, loved Lego Batman, will probably buy Lego Rock Band out of curiosity and recommend the two games above for PC, especially as they're nine years old now and will run on almost anything + cost the same as a loaf of bread. I hope that TT get the rights to Harry Potter because that would be brilliant, if a little repetitive.
Yes, some of it is tat for mothers to buy for spoilt brats but go into some of the games with the right mindset and you'll be pleasantly surprised.
