Yeah the title could be interpreted wrong but I didn't know what else to put.

Basically have there been any bits in a game people said was ridiculously hard but you found easy or not what you expected?

For me it's World at War. So many people said that Burn Em Out was incredibly tough but I did it within an hour. I found that NOT using the flamethrower helped unless I needed to clear out a large group of enemies.

The Water Temple.

All it requires is to explore thoroughly and memorise where things are.

I thought it was going to be hell beating Star Ocean 4 completely (That means all the bonus dungeons too) because I never got past Gabriel Celeste in Star Ocean 3... Then I destroyed Gabriel Celeste, blasted my way through the final bonus dungeon and after many deaths (but not a single technical loss somehow) I defeated the Ethereal Queen. It was almost disappointing that I was able to win on my first try...

Learning Wiremod (especially Expression gates/chips). Turns out, looking at prototype AI code is not the best way to learn the basics.

Some level in Call of Duty 4.

People kept on saying it was impossible on veteran, but I didn't find it as difficult as some other levels.

For whatever reason, i expected the rock titan in KH1 was going to be a lot harder than it was (I was on hard and it looked intimidating!).

Then i got to the ice titan,

Veteran on MW2.

I found it one of the easiest "hardest" games I've ever played, and I usually play games on medium...

You could have written "difficult"...
But yeah, there's one of those "clone of you"-type bosses in Guild Wars. However, he didn't have a pet though I had one, so I just buffed my dear dire wolf and let him mangle the guy. Took less than a minute, and I never ran below 75% health, though people in my guild and otherwise had warned me about the dude and how tough it would be...

The Eldar stronghold in Dawn of War: Dark Crusade. When you consider they have a massive base, with a smaller firebase nearby, an Ork encampment on one flank, and soon after beginning a Chaos splinter cult take up residence on the left flank, and they all want to kill you, then it seems pretty daunting. Oh, and we're dealing with a race that loves to get behind enemy lines and wipe out entire armies with a quick base-teleport to unreachable locations. Not to mention you're basically resigned to more or less constant attacks from three seperate armies. However, it turned out to be one of the easiest battles in that game. Mainly because you just have to defend two chokepoints which are extremely easy to hold, which limit enemy attacks on your base.

Take out the Chaos cult with a small team infiltrating, then deep strike or use aerial bombardment and heavy tanks to wipe them out. That gives you one flank free, so expand your base. Send a large force to free the Squiggoths, then use them to hold the entry point to the main bridge and set up another, smaller, firebase there. Then send your main attack force towards the Orks and wipe them out. Return to the firebase, send a small team of a few units to the Ork flank. You now hold both entrances to the main Eldar base. A bit of micromanagement to send two simultaneous attacks and hit them with a pincer maneauvre and you're home free :D

The last mission in GTA4. A bunch of people were like "It's impossible. You have to jump into a helicopter." It fucking does it for you. I beat the whole thing on the first try.

10 dan in beatmania IIDX Empress CS. I haven't played the game consistently in a long while and my skill wasn't back up to par yet. I said to myself "This is going to suck ass", chose it all the while expecting to bomb by the halfway point of the final stage, but ended up clearing it on my first try.

In short, Empress CS 10 dan---> expect to fail---> don't---> everything turned out better than expected.

For me, I think it'd be the first Drakengard. People said it was so ridiculously difficult near the end that I expected it to totally kick my butt. Sure, some parts were hard but not nearly as hard for me as people made it sound.

Yeah there were a few missions that seemed like they'd be tough that I stomped. I was expecting the bank heist was going to be tough too.

It helped that you could climb on it's shoulder's and just wail away.

Fallout 3 after level 5 and up I was a demi-god. It was like a very steep difficulty curve upside down.

Dude, you're obviously a freak of nature. I was stuck on this for months! I was like, 7 years old though.

Ha... yeah it's a wierd one, because I found some parts of Ocarina mindfuck difficult, like Jaby Jabu's belly for example.

I did the water temple on my first go last year with no help or guide, took me about 3 or 4 hours.

I think it wasn't to bad because:

a) I had heard so much about it and was expecting something awful, so made sure to memorise everything meticulously.

b) I was 28 playing it, and may have had a better spacial awareness due to years of gaming.

Though I did beat A Link to the Past when I was 12.

yeah, it's tricky when you're like 8. Though to be fair I first got majorly stuck in ocarina in the deku tree because I couldn't figure out how to light the web on the floor. I was a very retarded child... now I'm a very retarded adult.

It's ok... I was stuck on one part of the game so bad I had to use a guide.

How the fuck was I meant to know I had to throw a bomb at that one rolling Goron in the mountain to continue the story?

Some of the things in that game are way too oblique.
