I used to do that before it was cool.

Was egotistical and pandered to my self-interest to become popular on internet forums.
I also quoted rather pithy posts in order to attach a witticism to compound said effects.
Now I'm just left to being neutral, or otherwise self-referential introspection or humor.

I liked the wheel before it was cool. All these posers and their cars and buggies...

I liked Owl City when Of June was released. Ocean Eyes was terrible...

Claudio Sanchez has my favorite quote pertaining to this though, going something like, "People used to come up to me and say, 'Hey man! I've been a fan since Shaboutie!'. I'd say, 'Bullshit! I don't remember Shaboutie having any fans at all!'"

Blizzard RTS's. I used to play Warcraft II (which was still a mildly popular game nonetheless) way before Starcraft or War III ever came out.

Vampires. I finished reading Dracula literally a day before someone said to me "I just started this book 'twilight'"

I have always loved the Rolling Stones and the Who and Jimi Hendrix, and Bob Marley, now when I wear my Who t-shirt I get little punk kids asking which Hot Topic I got it from... HOT TOPIC! I've never been so insulted EVER! Half of the kids today don't know what good music is and the ones who do found it in Hot Topic... it really is a shame.

That said I still refuse to buy Space Marines and think that GW's policy of giving different Space Marine chapters their own codexes when the, for example, witch hunters (or Bolter Bitches, if you prefer) have an ancient codex, is complete and utter bollocks.
You don't need a new codex for something you can sum up in a page or two of special rules.

Thank you for that statement, i agree whole heartily with you, having played necrons

i mean 40k ive played for like 11 years etc, besides that not much :( im not cool nor do i contribute to the thread

WoW, I was there in vanilla when the game had a lot less subscribers and was a lot more terrible.
Anyone who claims "the good old days" were better is talking out of their ass.
oh god, i remember launch day all too vividly. it makes me laugh whenever i hear someone ***** about launch issues on some new MMO (ST:O, being my most recent example). it makes me feel like vaulting into a "when i was your age..." tirade. mmmm, 5-minute loot lag, and server crashes every 15 minutes. great memories...

also, zombies.
plus, that other fad? you know, that one? yeah, i started it.

I play necrons as my primary army at 3k points. At least I've heard that they're slated to get a new codex next year.

yea hate to break it to you they also said they were re doing dark eldar it only took them about 3 years minimum and at least 5ish marine codex's so it may take a while. But there are strong signs that the codex will be remade *knock on wood*

Not really.
Before the Battlegrounds came out, the game world felt huge.
PVP was all open world, guilds used to hang out in areas and attack enemies who came through.
The game was actually a challenge, and not based 80% on gearscore.

All of the zones were populated.
You didn't have to blow through 3 expansions of dead content to even begin playing the game.

There were some highlights yes, and Wrath over all is a terrible expansion.
Even so Wrath did improve questing, and before that TBC improved raids a lot.
Take a look at Molten Core for example, anyone who claims that was an exercise in good raid design is either suffering from advanced nostalgia or is talking bollocks. TBC PVE content is superior in nearly everyway. And as you may notice I'm not a PVPer, raids is thing.

To be fair the Dark Eldars codex of mega neglection is the oldest of the bunch and deserves an update.

I never really did the pre bc end game raids. I didn't need to really..
I went a few times, and decided it wasn't for me.
back then you had the option. you could still compete in greens and blues, no classes were not well balanced, but there was more of a sense of community if that makes sense.. i recognized people from doing black rock spire DM with them, everyone on the server kinda knew eachother.

Now you only interact with guild mates.
