Yes, Facebook "Quizzes."

Every time I see a facebook quiz, it makes me wish immense evil upon my fellow man. Most are nonsensical to begin with, then some should result in their creator's swift and utter destruction based on the stupidity with which they are created. This is one copied and pasted from my front page:

Douche said:
- just took the "Who is your dream girl? (boys only)" quiz and the result is You are into Hotties.
What the hell is that? I cannot come up with an expletive strong enough to express my hatred for this level of stupidity. I have to scroll down half the way to find any semblance of actual interesting happenings. After wading through "What kind of lover are you?" "What is your color?" "What is your sign?" "What is your animal?" "Why are you still living?" a sudden realization comes to mind.
What's worse is your news feed being full of one girl's quizzes, all of which are "are you hot/sexy/pretty/cute?", "how sexy are you?" "what's your sexiest feature?", it's pathetic that this person needs facebook quizzes to tell her she's attractive.

For me its a mixture of good and bad. It's good because I found a friend who moved away a few years back ~(unfortunately I later found she is obsessed with Twilight)

It's bad because if anyone goes on it at school and leave it for a few seconds their status gets changed. It's also bad because my parents have it so I have to be careful about what I say, if I delete them they'll ask why and immediately assume the worst.

I just go on there to keep in contact with people, friends I don't often see.
Only of course even then it's a gamble that you'll even get a response out of them, I type and they ignore....

It's okay, except the meaningless applications, and the fact that they steal the information you leave there. But it's nice to be able to chat with your friends and all that stuff.

The quizzes are retarded, and the games that not only ask you to spam incessantly, but keep offering to spam your friends for you to save you the effort really irritate me.

The less said of the "What crime are you most likely to commit" quiz that took such telling details as my favourite colour and called me a likely rapist, the better.

But you can decline to use those functions and it's a good way to catch up with friends that you might not see otherwise

I used to be okay with both facebook and myspace, as I kept certain circles of friends on each one. But then myspace started to transparently rip facebook off. And things got bad.

And Myspace never got around to fixing the ghost signatures for offline people. It really sucks when the instant messenger shows the girl I love as online at four in the morning, I seize the moment and send her a message, wait ten minutes, and then the fucking thing finally tells me she's offline.

Go climb a wall of dicks, Tom.

I must say I still enjoy my facebook and am guilty of spreading around those damn quizzes. I get bored and they are there, then all my friends like to follow suit. I'm like patient zero in a virus epidemic.

My facebook is used mostly for sending funny videos and pictures at each other. Its quite good to get sent a particularly good youtube link that someones decided to either broadcast or sent to me.

Its mostly girls that screw up my news feed with quizzes, and only time its ever gotten to me was last week when I said I couldn't be with a girl because she was abit too young, she then proceeds to take about 5 quizzes stating her maturity age, what age she should be, if shes attractive etc, all with the words equivalent to "ha told you" written in the comment line.
Yeah darlin', that's really going to prove me wrong...

Quizzes the dudes take are usually humorous, but mostly the "Top 5" things where you can choose anything, even better when someone takes offense to them.

Also, you can set it to pirate language, If that doesn't make it awesome nothing will.

Bebo used to be an alright social networking website as well until all those apps started flooding everyone's pages. It really made the site rubbish.

I like facebook as it isn't as bad as bebo has become.

Seeing as how both my martial arts dojo and my college have a facebook page, I find facebook useful to some extent. That, and it's nice to see pictures of yourself that you never would have gotten the chance to see otherwise from vacations and whatnot.

On topic:

I rather like Facebook, and I'm sure there's a way to block those apps and quizzes from showing up...
I do believe there is. And:

I actually quite like Facebook, most of my friends are 'tards and don't use MSN and considering when I am at Uni I am 250 miles away from my home town friends its a great way to keep in touch with the group of friends I am not with.

As for Quizzes... No one is forcing you too take them.
EXACTLY. Don't get me wrong, those quizzes are garbage in my eyes, and just an opportunity to procrastinate, however all this 'I despise Facebook' talk just seems a bit much. It's a good social networking tool. I can talk to my friends without using phone credit I don't have, and not all of my friends have MSN.

I can organise outings, meetings, and make annnouncements, all from one site with little trouble. If you don't like what your friends are saying most of the time, why are they even your friends? And for people who boast about not using Facebook, there's nothing really to boast about. It's not as bad as people say.

Pah! Social networking is for those who want to maintain contact with those who aren't in your particular clique of gamers. Which is a bad thing... right guys....

I like Facebook, I've found a few friends I haven't heard from in years.
But it is full of retards. I remember taking a quiz and it was, 'are you ugly, natural, plastic or pretty?'
'Do you take less than an hour getting ready?'
Yes.
'Then you're ugly.'

So shallow. ¬.¬

I've just had to delte 233 emails from them too.

And my sister is on my Facebook, she comments every damn status, if my friends comment she starts arguing with them and when me and my best friend were joking about having sex with muffins she was like 'omg im telling mum lol'
Fucking retard, I hate her ¬.¬

Facebook/Bebo/Myspace are all the equivalent of teenagers sitting at the bottom of the escalators in malls screaming about how everything is so, like, whatever!

Blogs often are just Facebook for loners, and Youtube is a spawning ground for hatred.

Privatised Gossip Dispensers, the lot of 'em.
You don't sound jaded at all. This is also why I don't go to malls.

I'm in the same boat though, I made a facebook because it's easier to find people there. Then i realized that prolonged exposure can result in death. I was literally close to suicide every time I logged in and saw the asinine trash people think is important enough to share.

People need to realize this one universal truth: Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting.
