I used to like my character model, until i took an arrow to the knee, and now it won't fade.

I was questing through the province of Skyrim when i was jumped by a band of bandits( no surprise there then). After dealing with them i hopped back on my horse and i realised that there was an arrow still lodged in my knee. Fearing that my days of adventuring could be at an end, i drank some health potion and checked again, and it was still there. That was yesterday and i still can't shift it, could anyone give me an idea of how to get rid of it.

Sorry for the over done internet meme reference :)

If you have a PC version, open the console (tilde key) and type "sexchange" to change your character's gender and get rid of the arrow. Type "sexchange" again to go back to you were as before. It sounds pretty weird, but it won't mess up your save game in anyway and it's the simplest workaround for the arrow bug.

The arrow is meant to disappear when you remove them from the inventory, I find if there isn't any arrows in the inventory to pick some up and drop them. That usually works.

So this is where this meme came from?
Not really it is just that the guards in Skyrim seem to have only a few lines and they keep repeating those. Including the "arrow to the knee" one.

Gotcha, thanks for clearing that up. Since I haven't played Skyrim it was starting to bug me.

Really I've played over 100hours of Skyrim and I actually counted how many times I heard the guards all over Skyrim say it, 12 times. Well I guess its different for everybody.

I have the solution! (If you don't mind becoming a werewolf). Join up with the companions, become a werewolf, and transform. I had this issue before, and after turning and changing back the arrow was gone. This won't work if you've already cured yourself of being a werewolf though (but why would you? It's got next to no downsides)
