Something along the lines of Adultswim calibur. Perhaps not Family Guy or Robot Chicken but something leaning towards adult oriented humor. Short too, like 15 minutes not long at all.

Do you agree? Or is there some other cartoon/comic you want seen on TV? Maybe the Farside?

For me C&H is perfect in its comic strip form. I can't help but feel that a cartoon adaption would suck. I think they'd mishandle things and the magic would be lost.

I certainly don't. I love the comic too much to easily trust its material to someone else.

Particularly due to the comic's multiple-demographic appeal.

I sort of agree, but at the same time the Dilbert Cartoon was really good.

I think the concept of one day selling Calvin & Hobbes to an animation/toy company was probably the one thing Bill Watterson hated more than the newspaper comic syndicates. I loved the comics growing up and they still hold a special place in my heart today, so I'd obviously be thrilled to see the kid and his tiger come to life through animation... But I think the knowledge that it goes against everything Bill Watterson ever stood for would probably effect my ability to enjoy it, so I can't, in good conscience, say I want to see it happen.

A "Bloom County" animated series, on the other hand, would be dandy.

Thanks, Spoons, took the words right out of my... keyboard.

Spoons is right. Every Calvin & Hobbes thing you see that isn't a book is unauthorized and illegal; Bill Watterson hated merchandising, and he undoubtedly hates you, personally, with the firey passion of a million suns just for suggesting a cartoon.

Plus you'd never get the rights because after Calvin & Hobbes ended Watterson went into seclusion with his wife, so you gotta find him before he can tell you "no". The guy isn't big on fame.

No. Not a million billion years. The comic was perfect and it doesn't need a half-assed animated series like every other big newspaper comic strip.

Nope. They already take enough flak from me by appearing in their "Praying in front of some Jesus nonsense" and "Look, I'm peeing on things!" bumper stickers. If Bill Watterson were dead, he'd already be spinning in his grave.

Since he's not, I'm sure he's just pissed. If you imagine he'd be less pissed about an animated cartoon, you'd be really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, mistaken.

Wouldn't you just not watch it and potentially enjoy the renewed attention the characters receive, possibly resulting in more comics and better shows?
No, because I can't even imagine the reclusive and legendarily anti-merchandising Bill Watterson coming out of seclusion to draw more comics for any reason, let alone approve of any sort of adaptation.

The end of the comic was one of the saddest moments of my childhood, but I certainly respect Watterson's dedication and his reasoning for ending it on a high note, specifically to prevent it from becoming a franchise and live far past its effective lifespan. My suspension of disbelief for this thought experiment only stretches so far, and without creator involvement, I honestly can't see an adaptation as anything but a doomed endeavor.

That part's a given. Either way, I answered the thread question ("No way in hell would I want this").

Depends on if it was done properly, if so then yes I would totally want/watch something like that because Calvin and Hobbes is awesome!

Not going to happen. The creator wouldn't even sell toys cuz he hates commercialism or diluting his work or some BS like that.

A while ago I was thinking the same thing, even Googled it in the hopes that it had happened and I'd missed it.

I later came to the conclusion that it was a bad idea based on one thing:
Young children's voices are annoying. American children in particular, I'm afraid, sound terribly whiny. I don't know why this is, I don't have a problem with American adult voices, by the way, so I hope I haven't offended any Americans.

Anyway, basically, Calvin is such an interesting, deep and even intellectual character that I imagine he'd be really ruined by having a six year old's high pitched noise voicing him. Well, I imagine they'd have to get someone older anyway, just because a six year old wouldn't be able to even pronounce some lines that he comes out with, but I'm just imagining it to be awful.
