I am going to be super-hipstery and only recommend games these fine gentlemen have forgotten:

Lone Survivor. Basically indie, 2d, 8-bit Silent Hill

I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream. A old Point and click with a inherently creepy and morbid story and writing. Based on a short story by the same name.

I'm sorry but I read the "I have no Mouth and I must Scream" short story... it has greatly disturbed me and I will not play the game! Thank you for your suggestions anyways

Oh dear! I don't know if I should take that as a victory of a great suggestion of creepiness, or loss of disturbing innocent people!
