First of all, is English the only national language in Canada?

French is also our national language as well as Enlgish, seeing as we're a bilingual country. French is mandatory from grade 1 to 4 in most provinces (even longer in others). You don't have to learn French in Canada, but they sort of shove it down your throat for your first few years of school. Honestly, if they hadn't forced me to learn it, then I might have had more interest in it. Now I have a bad taste in my mouth in regards to it.

OT: Whatever... I know all of three people who have had their tongues split, and while they're all fairly nice, they still have a hell of a time finding jobs. I don't stereotype against people who are into body modifications (I try not to stereotype at all), but trust me when I say that others will.

Alrighty well i have been looking at this for about 4 years now, just so i dont make a dissension that i will regret in life lol but I really want my tounge split. So i was wondering if anyone here has it done or knows of a person who does it PROFESSIONALLY...not just some guy in his basement

Pfft I don't understand why everyone's making a big deal about this being a stupid idea, I think it's awesome! If I had the guts, I'd probably do it too, 'cause it just looks like fun when I see people bending their tongues around :]

But...I had never put much thought as to where it could get done, because it seems like a serious surgical procedure, especially if you still want all your taste buds to work after wards. By the looks of things, though, some tattoo's and piercing parlors do it (there are videos all over youtube, after all) probably just have to find the right one. :]
Though you probably already knew all this...

I don't mean this in a cruel way I'm just telling you how it comes off.

If you have a split tongue then you will never be taken seriously and you can say goodbye to any corporate jobs. You will also disgust most people and freak lots of girls out. There is no way to revert this and it is a HUGE thing. Get a tattoo instead because at least you can hide it if you must. You will find it hard to talk and it will hurt like fuck. You tongue will be weakened and you taste will be offset.

However, if you dont care about any of this then go ahead. There are some people who find it cool and if you are a rocker it might be interesting for an image. Otherwise, don't do it. IMO its gross and horrible.

EDIT: ok, I reread this and it comes off hostile. I don't mean it that way, this stuff just really disturbs me as it does other people, you really need to think this through.

everyone is saying you cant reverse it, but you can whenever you want and it doesnt weaken it at all...

OK! This wasnt a thread about if i was going to do it or not. I am going to get it done but i need to find a place to do it, because it is illegal here. And for all the people TRYING to state facts about this please for the love of god actually look into before you start saying shit like "You cant reverse it" "your speech will be affected" or "your tongue will be weakened" none of that is true

Oh wow, I had no idea that you could make that illegal. Is it because of, like, self mutilation of something along those lines? Could you just go on a road trip to somewhere that does do it? xD

I don't like them because it's something you can never get undone. Plus it affects how you eat, talk, etc... So no, I wouldn't do it.

Having said that, it's your choice as to what to do with your own body, and if you really want it, get it. Just don't come back whinging you wish you'd listened lol!!

A little about me: I have 4 tattoos, and have had over 20 piercings done (although not at the same time, and some of these I've done myself). I love body modification, but at 20 you're still likely to change your mind every five minutes. I did get the part about having been waiting four years- give it another six and if you still want it and it won't be looked down on in your field of work, then fine.
