Fan of both Tool and Mars Volta? Rishloo is a perfect fit.
So....Rishloo are amazing. I've been digging around for another band in this niche for some time. Thank you very much. I find heavier rock/Industrial/Prog difficult to find bands I like in, while I adore the style. These guys are very good. Listened to the Feathergun album twice and it is a must purchase for me. Will be checking out the rest of their work asap.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Are you familiar with Karnivool? An Australian progressive(ish) metal band who occasionally get compared to Tool.

And a couple of my favourites just because.

Everybody needs a little of this in their life.

Ooh, and a classic.

Some orchestral dubstep, because it's an interesting contrast/mix.

Have some new Breaking Benjamin while we're at it.

Annnnd because why the fuck not?

Gonna try throwing out a few bands I've been big into lately...

RX Bandits
Frost*
Coheed and Cambria
King's X
Circa Survive

And as a completely out of left field bonus, I'm also very fond of Tripod, an Australian music-comedy trio. Ghost Ship or Maryanne are fairly indicitive of their style (specifically having one or more members of the band derail the song part way through and then they bicker about it)

miracleofsound

genius songwriter with a great voice, most of his music is based off the video games he plays, very fun.

Also, give Baroness a listen! Their Yellow album is amazing.
Baroness didn't really do it for me. Yellow & Green sounded fine, just didn't click with me. Something about it didn't grab my attention - which is probably best for writing papers :p. Still, I have listened Rishloo to death and will do so many more times before these weeks are up. Thanks again for the suggestions!

VNV Nation : Empires.

Changed the way I listen to music- technically, I think they invented it.
Interesting! But ultimately not for me. Thanks for the suggestion, though :)

Seeing as you have Tool and Puscifer on your list I'd guess you already know of A Perfect Circle, if not here you go

When I'm working I like to listen to stuff with fewer lyrics as I find it less of a distraction, as such I present Mogwai

I really dug Mogwai. I don't think I'd listen to it for the sake of actually listening to it, but as far as music goes for background atmosphere while working - it's really good. I added to my list. Thanks!

Rasputina, Kate Bush, Fields of the Nephilim, Korn, PJ Harvey, A Perfect Circle, Lacuna Coil, Nine Inch Nails. Well theres a few. :)
Wow. Wow wow wow. Rasputina. Adore it, thanks so much for hooking me up. So fecking weird so fecking good - right up my alley :)

Fields of Nephilim however, I could not dislike enough. Hate the vocals and find the music sort of bland. DEFENSES UP! To be fair I find that whole genre sort of dull I'm sure that they are very talented, just not my cup of tea is all.

PJ Harvey are super fantastic too however! From the very first song I listened to Let England Shake. At the 41 second mark I added the album to my keeper list. Thanks a lot. Very very talented, very very good.

Note to everyone. It takes me a while to get through it, because I listen to the entire discography of each band I try before I make a decision. I will get through every suggestion before my semester is over.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions!
