You see, I beat the final boss in FTL first try on normal mode, after my 8th attempt at the game (starter ship used). I'm feeling pretty happy about this, but I don't yet feel validated by anonymous others, which is a problem as I lack the mental capacity to self-validate.

I still remember alllllllmoooooost taking out the final Boss in Neverwinter Nights on the very first play through. I was so giddy that I got cocky and ignored my health for a few seconds--after all, that wall of blades spell didn't seem to do anything "must be a glitch" so---WHOA, IT JUST TOOK OUT 90% OF MY HEALTH!!!

Congratulations! it took me twelve attempts on normal and it really is a pain. I had been told how effective the boarding strategy was through out the game, and spent the whole time trying to avoid it for fear of making it too easy. Needless to say, I caved.
