I want to take sniper training (and no I'm not a 12 year old CoD player, I was into snipers since I was 5) just in case my country needs me and I'm the only one qualified for the job or something. You should too, its ideal, no interaction with people, just you the scope and the gun.

Its a lot harder than that but still its better than being the minuteman.
Don't Snipers usually have a sniper and a spotter?

I will point out that since we are part of nato, we do have to fight in wars that the U.S. declarse. lucky they havent officialy declared war on someone since vietnam I beleave. i forgot the loophole they have been using but the only reason we are fighting in the current events is more like curtessy.

I'm in the US Navy. Honestly, I can't tell you if you should enlist or not. I've gotten a lot out of the military....and I plan to leave the moment my enlistment expires in a few years, because I can get better jobs with better pay and less BS on the outside.

If you go in, try to get a good job that will look good on a resume. Even if you don't have the best scores when you enlist, you can always try out for another job while you are in, assuming the Canadian military is anything like the American one.

My advice, find someone that has been in for a long time that can give it to you straight. The military is FULL of oportunities for soldiers of all ranks. I recommend you enlist in the reserves, PREFERABLY with at least 40-50 college credits under your belt. This will allow you to enlist as a higher rank and make more money. If you MUST enlist straight out of high school just know that you will most likely go in as a low rank, E1, E2 or whatever the Canadian equivalent is. Do your college time with all the benefits that entails. After youre done with college and you have a degree, you can become an officer.

im tired of everyone shitting on the canadian military, like we are all dumbasses who can't find their asses with their hands. to say that we haven't done anything in the past while (militarily) is akin to that dickhead who took a piss on our war memorial some time back.

four generations of my family have been in the armed forces, and here this guy is saying we're good for nothing.

so, you shouldn't joke about these things. period. in case SOMEONE gets offended (much like myself)
So?
Why don't you try getting over it?

People make fun of my country all the fucking time.
What's worse?
They automatically assume things about me because I live there.
OHO YES I SURE DO LOVE SOME WAR AND JESUS AND PIE AND I'M HUGELY FAT
Hey, I have a better idea.
Why don't you submit to my will so I can order you to drown yourself in a river of the blood of your loved ones?
I like it.
I think I'll call it "Operation: Fuck You."

So yeah, one could say I'm not particularly sympathetic to your plight, because I have had to deal with that shit every time I have ever made any mention of where I happen to live, regardless of whether or not I enjoy living here (hint: I do not.)

(And in case you're confused, I wasn't directing the "why don't you fuck off" speech at yourself, I was directing it at all of the people who won't shut the fuck up, as if I care what they think of a country I don't even care about (hint: I do not, but it's still ignorance of the highest caliber.))

Oh, and there is nothing off-limits when it comes to jokes.

(You'd think dealing with the bullshit you're having to deal with would make me more sympathetic, but then you probably don't know me very well so your odd misjudgement can be excused.)
Others may make fun or your country, or they may make fun of another person's country, but that doesn't change the fact that it is wrong.

I'm Canadian, and I don't like it when people make fun of my country, but I also don't like it when people disrespect other countries.

I don't have any double standards.

Canada doesn't fight in any wars, so I guess you don't have to worry about that :p...
The fuck Fluffy?

-1 for you man, you BETTER have been making a crappy joke.

:<
Oh, be quiet. You walk around and brag about being Canadian. Jesus...
Uh huh, really now.

Gimme some sources.
I'll wait. give me 3 sources, of me directly saying how awsome Canada is, I'll wait all night.
Well not really, I have some Gmod to play, but I'll check back in a couple of hours.

*Jeopardy waiting music*

Oh, and out of all of the possible reactions for me giving out, that the guy completely ignored and in a way, disrespected loss of our soldiers, I think me just being upset at the guy is fine out of the alternatives.

What would you say if I said that deaths in your army were meaningless, and/or never existed, when it's pretty well known to the contrary.

*sniff sniff*

Is this a rivalry I'm smelling, on a forum?

Hope not, because lifes too short to keep grudges. >_>

It's not "wrong," it's obnoxious generalizing bullshit.
I guess if that's your definition of wrong then it could be wrong, though.

I don't give respect to a bit of land - I just don't enjoy getting written off as "American" when I am literally the opposite.
Well, not literally.
But whatever.

And congratulations!
You're special!
Most people do, and that makes them dicks.
No - it is wrong.

You seem to live by the "eye for an eye" mentality, and that's very dangerous.

Be the bigger person; if someone disrespects you, don't disrespect them back.

I wouldn't try to argue with him bro, max is a flaming ball of angst that will stop at nothing to pillage your (metaphorical) crops, eat your (metaphorical) sheep, and violate your (metaphorical) daughters. You better repent while you still can, maybe he will be benevolent and spare your pitiful soul.
He's nothing I haven't already seen.

I will do whatever makes me feel better, and that usually involves firing back with the biggest guns I can find.
Ah. I see. Most people tend to do what makes them feel good, lacking any considering in regard to how it will affect others.

Anyway, what exactly would those "guns" be?
