I want to get Rift

So Rift is an MMO similar to WoW. I quit WoW a while ago, but I wanted to pick up a new MMO to occupy my time since playing an MMO is cheaper than me buying a new video game every couple of months XD.

Does anyone tried Rift? If so, how does it play? Is it good?

I haven't played it, but I hear that there's a free trial [http://uk.riftgame.com/en/products/mmo-free-trial/] now. So I suggest you try that. Doesn't seem to require a credit card number, either.

Played it all through the beta but just cant justify laying down the money to play it full time. It was good but it was pretty much WoW with a few changes that wear thin quickly. The talent system is a different enough to be interesting at first but the novelty quickly wears off. The "Rift" events are pretty cool at first as well but after some time they just get in the way. You might like it and find it varied from WoW enough to make the jump but I didn't. Don't get me wrong, it has promise, it is a good game but make no bones about it, it IS a WoW clone.

Stick to a well executed AAA game or a browser based online game.
These MMOs are time suckers.

I've played it for 2 months now (taking a break ATM, which I will probably regret in a couple of days). I must say, if you're expecting something TOTALLY NEW and different, don't buy it.
It's a great game, but the quests are the same old "kill 10 that" "Get me this".
Rifts and zone events are really fun, but i'd recommend that you play with a friend or whatever (since it's a MMO).

First month it was out my steam stats show I played it for 100 hours

It's a fun game for sure and has some unique concepts but it does get old after a while. Most mmo's in my opinion are just time wasters in the long run. If you've never played an MMO before give it a shot during the trial.

I tried the 7 day trial myself and while I felt the game was exceptionally solid compared to most mmo startups I still can't make myself play it. Something about the art style bugs me.
