I Want to talk to a Halo Reach beta player

So, none of my immediate friends are big on Halo. I mean, one plays them, but, he's not like, sooo die hard that he knows everything about it. I however need someone that is well versed in the Halo gameplay world to talk to. Or numerous players would even be better.

I've got this (sweet) project where I get to design things. Right now I'm doing research for a bit about games and their collection of Weapons. For my part, I've chosen to do a bit about Halo Reach. The problem is, I don't know squat about Halo. I'm no fan of ignorance, so I'm going to try to educate myself by talking to some Beta players. (Hands on would be more ideal, sure.)

Right now, I'm trying to figure out what weapons are in the game (confirmed), and their following stats on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the deadliest and baddest mutha around).

Here's my criteria;
Power 1-10
Accuracy 1-10
Range 1-10
Rate of Fire 1-10

So a 10 in power would be one shot kill. A 10 in accuracy would allow for mistakes in movement, aiming, and still score a solid hit. A 10 in range would be sniper weapons that go across the map. A 10 in RoF would be clip/mag emptying in a blink of an eye.

I've collected a list the guns that I've heard were definitely in game, but I want to talk to some of the players before I go ahead and consider them confirmed. In the meantime, if you have any input on weapons in the Beta and the above criteria, I'd be glad to hear it in the ensuing discussion that will follow. :)

You might find this page interesting.

It'll tell you about most of the weapons used in the beta. The descriptions aren't amazing, but they give descriptions of the power and range of the guns.

Aye, I've gone over that page myself. :) Part of the reason why I felt I needed to talk to a Reach beta player.

Try posting your questions on Bungie.net forums. You'll probably get much better results. I played some of the beta myself, but it's been awhile and I didn't play much so I won't be a great source of info.

I will try that, esspecially since you were (litterly) the only person to comment in this thread. :)

I played in the beta.

How much information do you have already? I mean, I don't want to start telling you stuff you already know.

What you ask is complicated. It's really hard to get weapons in a game like Halo (Especially just off the Beta, because it was all competitive, all the time. No time for in-depth testing like what I think you want) down to an exact science. I played the shit out of the Beta when it was out, but that was in May and all I remember 100% is that the Needle Rifle was better than the DMR, and the Magnum kicked ass.

Iv played the Beta.
I don't Remember many of the Weapons names but i do know what most of them looked like and how they felt/played.

The weapon i loved was the Plasma Repeater.

Power:Was about a 6, it was really powerful up close and still held its bite at a distance.
Accuracy:8.Id say it was really accurate.
It fired a Short Beam so it was easy to see where it was going.
Range:9.You could almost Snipe with it.
R.O.F:10.
You could fire as fast as you could pull the trigger.

Any other weapons you heard about?
I know a little bit but not much.

Hum... It's been a while but I can try help you.

You must always keep in mind that weapons accuracy is lowering if you are doing continuous firing.

The rocket launcher is a one hit kill when fired at the right place. Otherwise, keep in mind there is splash damage.

The sniper is a one hit kill when getting an headshot, otherwise it's two shots.

DMR can lower shields pretty quickly and a headshot is lethal. Otherwise, it takes a few shots to the body.

The grenade launcher is a one shot kill for an explosion directly on the body. If it's not, keep in mind you can use undetonated grenade as landmines and that they have an EMP effects.

I would suggest you look at Beta videos to try getting those stats by yourself I.E. How many seconds does it takes to kill spmepne with the focus rifle, or how many needle rifle shots does it takes to chew up through spartans shields.

Two stick out in my memory.

Beam Rifle: Covenant sniper, fires a continuous energy beam.
Power: 3 (continuous, you need to hold it on the target to accumulate the damage)
Accuracy: 10 (pinpoint)
Range: 10
RoF: 10 (again, it's a constant stream of damage)

Plasma Launcher: basically a burst-fire plasma grenade launcher. Probably the most devastating thing in the whole beta.
Power: 10 (every shot is a plasma grenade. Sticky and deadly.)
Accuracy: 9 (The grenades are heat-seeking. It is quite brutal.)
Range: 8
RoF: 3 (It needs to charge up when it fires, and the longer you wait, the more grenades you can release. Still, the charge isn't bad - you can realistically launch two or three heat-seeking sticky grenades at a medium-range attacker.

Happy to help. I hope you got something on there, although you did get a few more posts in this thread.
