Only the arrow to the knee one annoys me, and I can't quite explain why. I was playing Skyrim last night walked past a guard and nearly cringed as he said the now immortal words...

I feel sorry for you man, it sure does add insult to injury when you get shot right after having butt pains.

TBH, I don't really care about stuff like Umad bro and over 9000. Mainly because if I don't like them I can just ignore them. Memes are actually one of the better things about the internet for me, because they give us internet nerds some laughs and show how the internet has changed how funny stuff is spread.

I like "arrow to the knee" but that might be my Bethesda Fanboyishness kicking in. I've never really heard of any others except the "umad" thing which I've only seen when the webpage couldn't connect properly.

I, for one, enjoy memes.

They are quite hilarious when used in the right context.

Although, "The Cake is a lie" is the only one that's been done to death for me. I will give you a freaking companion cube if it will get you to shut up about nonexistent delicacies.
I can't agree more with "the cake is lie" one, My friend uses it too much and starts spouting crap about it every time I mention cake. I love cake, It's a damn good food.

I am just usually a little puzzled about why do people insist on using them over and over and over
I try to ignore them and the people who use them and just go about my life

There is pretty fine line between trolling and just being brain-dead, so long as the person using them isn't brain-dead I don't mind it.

The "arrow to the knee" jokes and getting old, however, altough there aren't a whole lot of memes that I can't stand.

The cake is a lie being one of them...

Memes are good for a cheap laugh. It's funny on GameFails, when the top comments are memes that actually fit the fail in question (some of them can be quite creative). And hey, anything that makes you laugh is a good thing in my opinion.

It think that says it all. I don't care about all these memes few of those are new and the best thing to do is just ignore them making threads about them will just bring in people using the memes to annoy you and accomplish nothing.
While I've seen that picture before, it ever fails to make me laugh.

On topic though, I used to get butthurt about the perpetuation of memes, but honestly I can't be bothered to even care these days, Maybe I grew up, maybe my care meter burnt out.

Apathy or maturity, you decide.

I always seem to find memes funny, no matter how overused they are. Maybe I just have a low bar for humor.

see, meme's are not the problem. meme is a lot like a joke, funny first time, you get a few giggles 2-5th time. its just after you hear the same joke for 1001th time you start thinking "well, this is getting a tad bit old....."

also, jokes which are not appropriate to the discussion are even worse.

ps starting your topic with "is anyone else" is not very smart thing to do, just fyi ;)

It's not about making you laugh it's about in this context showing that memes are here to stay and will not be going anywhere even memes based on memes. If it makes you laugh or not I don't care I didn't bring it up for lulz.

The fact that every time a "new" meme pops up people overuse it to death (thinking they're clever and witty for essentially becoming human parrots) kinda annoys me.
Butthurt is oldschool tho and not really a meme, neither is gay (but gay is kind of a grade school insult as is "fag").
Personal belief here is that to be "funny" or "witty" you also have to be "original". Put that in your pipe and smoke it (thats not a meme, thats an idiom).

The arrow in the knee joke was alright for a little while. Than it got old pretty fast.

It should die out soon though. Just like Portal 2's SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE!! meme. I haven't heard anyone use that in a while.

I don't hate memes, in fact I love most of them. There are just some that I just don't find very funny after a while.

Over exposure. That's the reason why I hate memes for the most part. They're everywhere and and are used to no fucking end.

I read once on 4chan a quote that explains memes nowadays. Now I don't remember it all but here's the main thing.
"Memes are like frosting on the general conversation cake. You like frosting, but would you eat an entire cake made from frosting, probably not. And if you were to you would get sick of it very fast. These people that use memes like no tomorrow are essentially making the internet a cake made from frosting, and those of us who like it in mere moderation are getting sick of it."

Personally I feel 'come at me bro' is inferior to 'come get some.' Ash has the best one-liners. Moving on, I only dislike memes when they're over-used. I sometimes use them but only if the opportunity is too great to miss, not to force a joke.

umad and over 9000 are pretty old.

As for the newer ones, i don't really care.
I'll let people do and say what they want.

Apart from the god-awful "arrow-to-the-knee"-jokes, nothing is what you would call recent. Have you never stumbled over them in the past?
But yeah, I'm not bothered by them, I'm bothered by kids using them.
And that Skyrim-joke got old so damn fast..

But ya. The memes never really bothered me. I find them humorous. It can get annoying at times which is true, but that is when you can just mute the person you keep hearing saying the same meme over and over, or if you are a moderator, just boot the guy out your server, in the end it really is just for the lulz.
