Ok, to me someone who is a trendy gamer, is one who jumps on the bandwagon of gaming while it's "in". Like the people who play Halo or CoD exclusively. It sounds like he was calling you a gamer but using trendy not as an adjective of gaming. Because if he was, then he's an idiot. Unless he caught you buying a copy of Halo, then I can see where the inference comes from, again, not that it's correct.

That sucks too, because it's a dickish thing to say. Even trendy people cringe when being called trendy. It has negative connotations the way that "preppy" does. How about "fashionable gamer"? "Abercrombie & Gamer"?

I was under the impression that if you played games, you are a gamer. What is with all this 'trendy gamer' bollocks? I think people are just making up groups just to segregate themselves and others even more. Why? The only thing I can think of is to eventually isolate themselves so completely that they can play WoW in peace, or is that too trendy now that it's been on South Park?

Better to game in the open and be able to include others than become too insular.

If there's such a moniker as "trendy gamer" then I'm glad to be a "fashionable gamer". It's nice to be comfortable whether in t-shirt/blue jeans or beanie/collared shirt/slacks/necklaces or something more formal.

I've been called a lot of things, but never a "trendy gamer." No sir, I'm all geek.

Although I have noticed that a lot of girls seem to think it's fashionable to be gamers nowadays w/o the actual gaming. It's infuriating. I've noticed it before w/ guys, but it never really bothered me too much because at some point pretty much all of us guys were into gaming to some degree. But most girls I knew growing up and even now (not all girls, mind you) never wanted any part of gaming, mainstream or core, and I don't see why they would now.

Trends annoy me.
