I'd argue he could actually be going for money using proven content, as noted by the first post of the thread it was linked to a Machinima Video so it would suggest to me he is either trying to get Machinima audiences to watch or he is trying to get someone at Machinima to notice the videos 'He made' and get a contract with them as a director which I believe if you get the contract you get money for every view or is that a different channel?

It doesn't make sense. Surely SOMEONE would realize these are stolen. As for Machinima, definitely somewhere along the line the ruse would be discovered and the kid's YouTube account shut down, if legal action isn't taken.

Actually, you'll be surprised with some of the positive comments he's getting on "a great funny original video".

I don't think ignoring it is the right way to go. This kid has stolen far more than just one ZP video and either gave them recolors or some kind of terrible audio filter.

The kid is also enjoying popularity and subscriptions - as opposed to infamy and well deserved spite from people who DO respect the original maker of ZP.

There are correct channels to go through to have this kid reported without feeding trolls or giving it attention. I'd let the heads of Escapist know first, and then they can submit the correct copyright/trademark infringement reports to Youtube in order to effect a legal action.

This might be a kid who thinks he can get away with anything - it's time to prove him wrong.

Just so everyone who hasn't seen it yet knows; this is an almost identical cut, and paste of one of Yahtzee's videos. He only changed the colour scheme, and added a slight echo, then removed the end credits.

I disliked the video, then reported the video as inappropriate on Youtube, but it turns out you can't finish the report that it ripped off someone (copyright/trademark/ect), unless you are 'the' person/organisation being ripped off, so since I'm not Yahtzee or the Escapist, I couldn't finish lodging my complaint.

Relax, he's just trollin'. Anyone who doesn't realize what his videos are and actually gets interested will eventually search for "Zero Punctuation," and figure out the truth for themselves. Giving him attention will only make it easier for him.

I might buy that, except for it still begs the question as to why he'd even bother to apply the filters in the first place if he wasn't deliberately trying to pass Yahtzee's work off as his own, as surely simply posting one of Yahtzee's videos as his own without any alterations would draw more than enough hatred from everyone, regardless of whether they were long-time Zero Punctuation fans or someone who just found out what Zero Punctuation is after doing a quick search for it. Unless he figured that adding the filters would just make it look all the more like a blatant rip off in the eyes of his viewers and thus infuriate them more, but I think that would be giving him too much credit. Or at least I hope. If not, then I congratulate him on coming up with a pretty damn good trolling scheme.
