I wish Anonymous would find the people attacking PSN.

Surely I'm not the only one? This would be a tale people might want the movie rights to. An organization (Anon) that had at one time attacked our precious, but possibly malevolent, PSN is now being charged with the virtual equivalent of murder. The only way to clear their name? Find the real perpetrators and expose them.

C'mon, I know you'd watch that movie. Y'all's thoughts?

I doubt they will.

Sony is in a shit storm, so even if Anon didn't do this like they claimed; They are loving the outcome.

I was thinking the same thing earlier today. Who better to find a bunch of hackers than a bunch of hackers. They could even work with the FBI, with Anon's hacking abilities and the FBI's resources they could definetly find them and shove the rage of Sony's fanbase straight up their asses.

I don't know if they can catch Hacker Cat.

Hacker Cat is very hard to track down.

Sorry. Not gonna happen.

Unless Anon is absolutely certain it has something to gain by helping find the hackers, it won't approach the FBI with a thirty-foot pole. Why? Because the government/big corporation is always evil and the anarchist is always good.

You are wrong. They specifically denied bringing down PSN in a co-ordinated attack.

It's possibly rogue elements of Anonymous were members of the PSN hacker group, but Anonymous as a whole did not bring down PSN.

OT: That'd be lovely in a way, but terrifying in another. Who appointed Anonymous as the great internet vigilantes?

Anonymous is just anyone that says they are. Kinda beats the purpose, but that's the way it is. Anonymous to me is just a banner for any self righteous hipster to form under, the statement the hackers released for the PSN going down was a hilarious example of that.

OT: I don't care, it'd be fun to see, but then that's all these anonymous cunts want; to be recognised.

Someone who was anonymous.

OT: The only way this is going to happen is if the hackers grossly overstep their bounds and begin to obstruct certain freedoms. Since all the hackers are doing are fattening their own purses, I doubt we'll be seeing Anon intervention anytime soon. OTOH, if they continue to claim to be Anonymous while not actually being anonymous, you may just get your cliched movie plot yet.

I'm not saying work together with the authorities. You can out your enemy without coming out yourself. An "anonymous tip", if you will.

Until they fuck something up so major that they will be destroyed by the wrath of the people, whom they were "supposed" to liberate.

I'll admit, it would be interesting to see PSN saved by Anon. Will it happen? It has about as much chance of happening as a snowball does of surviving in hell. Possible, just REALLY improbable. It would still be cool to see it happen.

A while ago they went to mess with Sony in retaliation for Sony aggressivly attacking a jailbreaker. (The morality of all this is debatable) During then PSN went down breifly. Anon stopped and publicly appologized saying that the users were not who they were trying to harm and that they would stop attacking sony unless they could do it without affecting the user base. this is 100% different then the more recent attacks which were malicious and targeted the userbases information. Not the same.

That would be pretty cool, and it would be great PR for Anonymous, but there's not really any reason they would do so. The goal of "Anonymous" is all about stopping people's rights from being taken, and random other people stealing for profit is nothing to do with that at all.

Oh come on. Do you really think they would go after the people who attacked a target that they said they were going to attack?

They are not vigilantes who are on the side of the general public. They are on their side.
