I'd just love an FPS that lasts longer than 8 hours. I don't mind the genre, but if they could manage to weave in epic storyline and made it last at least 20 hears it'd be great. (Yes, i know there are few exceptions ).

I know. I played it and I loved it. But my point is that it's still an exception. Also, the genre should move outside of realistic military shooter. I liked prey 1, I'm hopeful about prey 2.

My laptop does not do well with most fast-paced games so I don't know of any mods to suggest. If you haven't already, you might want to try any non-Other M 3D Metroid game. It's not as colourful but the shooting mechanics do remind me a little of a Megabuster and the areas tend to go beyond the usual browny-brown landscape. As far as the aesthetics go, I've seen some retro looking Minecraft FPS mods (The one I'm thinking of was modeled after Team Fortress 2), but I'm not sure how the gameplay would hold up.

I know it's only relevant in the vaguest sense, but I'd suggest Mirror's Edge (It tends to be dirt-cheap everywhere) if you want a pretty FP(Kind of S) experience.

lol, this thread reminds me of that other one with that anime Lost Planet game where it looked incredibly outdated (visually) and yet the OP praised it because it wasnt "8R0WN 4ND GR3Y".

In this case it isnt even just the visuals that are outdated, the gameplay is exactly the same as Doom and Duke Nukem (funny that you find Duke Nukem to be bad game since the only thing different are the visuals)

Get out of your retro buble and enjoy things for what they are, not for what they are associated to.
