I am not sure with the system, playing baldurs gate series the lower your A/C the better you were.

In Icewind dale 2 it seems that the higher armour value is better, is this true?

Secondly the Ranger Class seems to be less effective in Marksmanship than the Fighter Class, simply put that the Ranger can not take a 3rd or 4th skill specialisation in comparison to the fighter in the Bow skill/perk.

So I just want to know the point of taking the ranger class other than the low amount of spells and the fact it is slower to level up in comparison to the warrior?

Certainly in Icewind Dale 2, having a higher AC is better.

Rangers have various bonuses that fighters don't get - they get the ambidexterity and two-weapon fighting feats if in light or no armour, should be able to choose a preferred enemy to get bonuses to hit and damage against.

It's pretty much down to personal opinion on whether it's worth taking a ranger instead of a fighter.

Also they shouldn't be slower to level up, unless they took a race with ECL.

well my party is 4 Rangers, 1 rouge and 1 Druid, and they all duel wield and use bows except the druid. I just wanted to have a nature party so to speak, instead of my last epic party.

Well you need a mage otherwise you're just gonna be hopelessly outgunned.

You could swap a Ranger for a Barbarian? Keep with the beastly feel but have someone who can have Grand Master specialisation.

my old party had a necromancer/sorceror with only necromancy skills. however yea its a real challenge and so far im up to act 4

I prefer it actually, well in bg it just feels ten times more balanced
