You know, I've been doing this FETAC art course for just a year now (in Ireland, a FETAC is less than a diploma but apparently the same as a-levels?). And we have this subject called Communications.

Now, I have no idea what dead-brained idiot put Communications (as in, information communication) into AN ART COURSE but unfortunatly it is compulsory to pass said subject.

And we have this essay to write. On Information Communication Technology. Now, you have to understand, this is a bunch of lazy art students who were not quite good or confident enough to get into a degree course, so we learn very, VERY LITTLE in said course.

So I ask you, for my essay, WHAT THE HELL IS INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY? Can I have a definition, a few short expalinitory paragraphs, ANYTHING?

I've tried, google, wikipedia and Yahoo, but so far, no reliable source has been located. Especially not wikipedia. PLEASE I really need to get this essay done and we were given little to no clue of what ICT actually is. So can anyone help?

Microsoft access mainly, a little bit of excel and maybe some web design parts. A few little bits about data manipulation and storage (some stuff with ASCII coding).

ICT is, basically, your bog standard computer usage. GCSEs these days have ICT as one of the possible subjects and frankly it's just use of various Microsoft office stuff.

So maybe you need to just yabber on about how you use computers in your artwork?

Unfortunately, all the GCSE ICT/IT courses are very very tedious to do relatively well in, and my teachers either didn't understand what they were meant to be doing or enjoy messing us round through lies.

I meant ICT as a definition. My course is just making us send e-mails to be honest. Thanks for trying though!

Obviously needs padding out a bit... Lol, 500 words is considered an essay? I guess I've been at uni too long where 2000 words is considered short, and 6000 the norm :(

500 words for an A-level!? Jeez. I wish my GCSEs were that easy.

I'm actually doing an ICT GCSE so I can tell you what it's about at my level. It's about Microsoft Office mostly for the practical side, and the internet, impact and uses of computers, and how computers work (A little bit) for the theory side.

That's it, you probably know most of it already. Since you're writing an Essay on it, look at it like this:

Information and Communications Technology.
That's technology that handles information (This extends to filing cabinets!), and communications. Those Morse Code dotters were a kind of ICT.

Talk a bit about the impact of computers and how necessary they are in a modern world that is increasingly becoming more reliant on them, and you'll easily fill three times that word count.
