I love Quake Live as it is, it has a LOT of great maps as it is and I don't see the need to join more than 1 clan, only 1 seems fairly enough for me, don't like your clan, only drop out and find a better one, as easy as that.

Definitively I won't be paying for it, I already have Quake 3 Arena and it's expansion and I won't be paying again for that game wich it's mod community has been doing this for a decade now (wow, it's really old), also, as much as I love Quake Live, every other single "arena FPS", be it free-crappy-open-source clones or Unreal Tournament series, they have TONS of new content every now and then and these so called "premium and new content" are completely free and even better than the game itself.

In short, no thanks id, I pass.

Quake Live is awesome, and the ability to give a couple bucks back after having played it for free for over a year and a half for 120+ hours doesn't really change that.

thats my profile btw

and yes i know i havent played in a long time but that's only been because uni started.

PLUS the most important thing here is that NOT PAYING doesn't detract from your gameplay AT ALL

I love how people get all irate about a game that was free to play instituting optional subscription fees. God forbid anybody try to make a profit these days.

HAHAHA ad revenue not supporting, what? 1 gbit of throughput an hour? nuts to that shit.
So people are gonna pay for a vanilla shooters' multiplayer now? when there are so many free carbon copies?

Wow, really? You people cant even pay $4 a month? Gamers are such cheap bastards. Most subscriptions do not seem too unreasonable to me. Certainly this and xbox live are rather cheap. (Play on a silver for a few months, then play gold and you will see the value)

The problem with that statement is that you have to buy the subscription in 12 month blocks, meaning 12 months of Pro is £38 in the UK. Or, for the same money, you can get all the games iD made for the PC up to and including the Doom 3 expansion, and you get them for as long as Steam is around (which is probably going to be a very long time indeed). Ultimately, I don't see the value.

Oh, and my trial month of Gold expires in a couple of weeks, and I don't intend to renue it. Why? Because with the games I've got, I don't think it's worth it.

Is it me or is the FPS Subscription Plague spreading?
This is a free-to-download game, no box sales. If they didn't institute subs, id would make approximately $0 off of Quake Live. I doubt ads generate much revenue.
Ah, I see. I thought this was just Carmack following activision like the 'no Dedi Server' thing with rage.
