I'm not entirely sure if this has been done before and I'm pretty sure someone out there has already thought about it since it's pretty damn hard to be original these days, but how about this for a fun little game that can also teach you some very important things about medicine?

I only had this idea come to me a few minutes ago but here's the jist of it; you can play as either the antibodies or the infection, you'll have the basic tech tree as the antibodies, which will involve unlocking various organs in order to create the antibodies you need to defeat the increasingly deadly infections, which will put these organs under increasing threat.

You can also play as the infection, if you feel like it, where your tech tree will be based more on the evolutionary scale of single-celled lifeforms and how one form of bacteria can mutate and turn into another or how a virus can incubate within other cells.

With each "army" you'll be provided with tactically (and factually) specific information which will not only tell you the best methods on how to utilize your "units" and tell you a little something about them and how they work, but also a little history on them and some information on what they do when they infect you or defend you from infection.

Now, I know this completely lacks any form of discussion value, but don't worry, I'm getting to that now. This is a half-formed idea that plainly has many flaws and issues with it, what improvements would you make to the concept and how far up do you think the tech tree could go? Maybe as far as theoretical and experimental treatments? Maybe the infection side would raise awareness of each infection and link you to charities that work to prevent them?

What's most important is that it's fun, obviously, but if there's one thing The Escapist has shown me, the medium can be so much more.

So, what would you add/change to my concept to make it better and what games have you come up with that you think might be fun, yet educational?

You could set it up to be a sort of RTS/Tower defense game which are incredibly popular, however going the tower defense route would be easier as they appear to be easier to set up.

The tower defense also does pose a problem as for playing the infection's side, though I'm sure someone could figure a way around that.
