Well, my friends and I were talking about the over obundance of generic World War II games, and I thought of an idea, which'll likely never happen because people will get 'offended', but wouldn't it be pretty cool if there were a WWII game where you played from the Axis's perspective for the entire story line? Similar to Call of Duty games, except instead you play as the Nazis, Japanese, and Italians, sure most people hate nazis and WWII era italians and japanese folks, but I mean it'd be a nice change of pace wouldn't it? (if there has been one please inform me guys I'd love to play it)

You'd know the outcome and hate the people you play as but it would be a change of pace.

[error 404: Escapist welcome paragraph not found]

On Topic: I doubt anyone would have the balls to make an ENTIRELY Axis game. It would be fun though. I've never heard of a game where you even play as Nazi for a short while...

Well to keep people happy they'd be better off doing it CoH style and let you play as everyone from both sides then people couldn't really complain about it.

Yes, it's a good idea and it'll probably never happen, for just the reasons you stated. People don't like the idea of playing as the "bad guys", especially if they're the nazis, probably about the closest to completely morally black group of people we've had in real life.

Personally, I'd play it. I wouldn't see the problem with it. Just like I don't see the problem with MW2's "No Russian" level.

Welcome to The Escapist, by the way.

I'd at least rent it, provided that a good developer was behind it. The idea would be enough to get me interested a bit.
And I'll play for the losing side, no problem. As long as it's done well I'd have no problem with it.

And welcome to the Escapist! You are now the fourth(?) commi on the site.
I hope you enjoy your stay.

Yes, many people have posted this idea, and most have agreed with it.

If I feel like it, I just play Company Of Heroes.

I think it's because most WW2 FPS' are either made by or at least marketed to Americans, and while I hate to generalise and Americans I know are mostly lovely people, empathy is one thing the American psyche is short on, so it's usually a bad marketing idea to have the protagonists be anything other than Americans or sometimes English.
Or Irish. The saboteur did quite well.

Although that may have something to do with tits...

To be honest I liked the premise of Turning Point: Fall of Liberty alot, but I've been told the game itself is very meh. As for a game where you play as the Nazi's, I don't think it's a bad idea as long as its done well. It could make for a very emotional game. Personally I think playing from a Japanese soldiers perspective would be more interesting though, all torture aside.

How about a WWII game that actually has nothing to do with WWII? Like a "Shit goes bonkers" invaded by demon nazis..... wait, nevermind.
Now about a WWII game where you can play as a poorly depicted Irishman and fight in France.... and nevermind.

In all seriousness, how about a WWII game where you fight as the Madagascans? I feel like they aren't getting enough rep in these games.

I hope you're being sarcastic, I'm Irish, and that was the worst depiction of an Irishman I've ever seen.
It's the thought that counts...

Yeah, it was awful, but do you think any Americans new that?
