Yeah, put me down for Squirrel Girl.

Saitama is a parody character arbitrarily powerful enough to defeat his opponents in one punch. Unlike Goku, his limits have never been defined. Unlike Superman, there is no indication he is truly limitless.

Squirrel girl is a good match for that.

Applying Spacebattles logic is just a headache.
I'm pretty sure that Saitama's power limit has been stated.

He doesn't have any. Apparently God gives everyone a limiter setting their potential power level. The reason that Saitama is so powerful is that he broke his, meaning that his power is literally infinite. He's as strong as he needs in the moment.

Which is why it's hilarious to see people get upset when you explain that Saitama is stronger then goku or superman. That fact he's a parody of their power fantasy character goes completely over their heads. I once stated that I could draw a stick figure, and declare him stronger then superman. That's basically what the original One Punch Man was.
And that's why Saitama and One Punch Man are great. Because it's actually more about the characters and situation than "Can our heroes defeat this new threat?!?! Find out next time!"

I'll paraphrase what Yahtzee said in an episode of Let's Drown Out: to even think of such a thing is to miss the point and central joke of the character. It'd be comparable to someone trying to break down a brick wall by tapdancing in front of it.

Well, sure, but I think that goes to some degree for death battles in general. Most charactars aren't written with such a strange thing in mind and don't really fit in death battles at all. And I highly doubt that Saitama is the only charactar whose joke is that he is ridiculously overpowered to the point of being bored by it all. In fact, pitting insanely overpowered charactars against eachother in thematically ridiculous battles is sort of the central premise of death battles.

Yeah there's the whole iron skin thing they added a while ago, but he seems like a natural adversary. He's practically the kind of character Saitama parodies anyway.
Yeah, on this note Reed Richards for the same reason.

Saitama is stated as being as powerful as he needs to be to beat an opponent, because he broke the limiter god puts into each living being. A fight with the Hulk would last indefinitely for this very reason. Saitama could never truly beat Hulk, as each punch that put Hulk down would just bring Hulk back more pissed off to match Saitama, who would in turn draw enough power to one punch Hulk again.

OT: I'm going to go exotic and say Honor Harrington, provided she gets at least the Paul Tankersly, a pinnace, an assault shuttle, or a guided missile launcher of her tech base. Why? Because Honor would be aware what Saitama can do, but there's no way he could react to something at hypersonic speeds hitting him with an impeller wedge. Not even Saitama could resist a band of gravity stressed to 100,000Gs, that not even thermonuclear bomb pumped x-ray lasers can penetrate.

Bobobo could easily defeat Saitama.

...then again, there really isn't anyone Bobobo couldn't defeat considering his "fight style" often involves intentionally injuring/killing himself and his friends, only to be perfectly fine in the next panel.

Bonus points: Saitama even looks like a villain from Bobobo. :3

The joke that you are not getting is that this is all in good fun, and it is equally wrong to be the guy going "Stop having fun, guys!".

The Hulk's powers don't work that way. It's perfectly possible to knock the Hulk out via physical damage. It's happened many many times. It's Madder hulk gets stronger he gets. It's not attacks against him that make him more powerful, you're thinking someone with the power to absorb kinetic force like Strong guy.

I think Cartoon Fight Club did that with Luffy Vs Mr. Fantastic. Luffy ended up winning. Reed can only stretch so far before it starts to hurt him, not to mention, the guy really doesn't have any way to really put Luffy down for the count, (at least not with physical strength alone) whereas Luffy? He could easily take him out with either a Gum Gum Elephant Gun, or Red Hawk. It's just a matter of how long Reed could stand Luffy's assault. Yeah, Reed's got the intelligence advantage, but Luffy is trumping him in everything else. Strength, speed, experience, not to mention he could just go Gear Second and end him that way.

Isn't there a character in Marvel called Squirrel Girl whose whole shtick it is that she can beat anyone just cuz, and it's kind of used as sort of a joke, like Saitama? Didn't she once beat Thanos on her own? She'd seem like a good fit; Joke character vs. joke character.
Actually, part of the joke with her is that her competence in a fight is directly inverse to who she's fighting. When up against Thanos or Dr. Doom she's an unstoppable juggernaut of mayhem and destruction. When up against random street thugs she's...a girl who can control squirrels.

That said, she probably IS one of the few people who could fight Saitama on even ground.

You could place him up against someone who manipulates matter, or someone who simply takes him to a place where there's no oxygen since he's still biologically human.
Saitama got punched to the moon. He survived by holding his breath, then jumped back to Earth with near pinpoint accuracy.

What I'm saying is, while Saitama can't breath in space, it's not much of a detriment.

I'll handle this. It actually doesn't matter what the reason is. The Death Battle guys put them in a place and they get down to fighting. Asura will flip out if someone so much as bumps her by accident. Even still...

The secret of Asura's Wrath is that he can't stand anybody who's a possible threat to his little girl. A supposed superhero who's so dangerously powerful that everything gets crushed in his path? Easy rage button.

Hell, the Lost Episodes. Asura VS Ryu and Akuma, just because they were there. We need little excuse. Shall I put your mantra down, then? The Destructor needs no worship, but a good cheering never hurts!

I dunno. I can't help but think the whole thing would end with the two of them hitting up a ramen resturant wondering why they were fighting in the first place.

I don't think it's smart to use parody characters for such a thing. Saitama has the whole "Is stronger than everything" going on.

So it doesn't matter who you pair him up with, that person is going to lose, because that's Saitamas shtick. Obviously you can pair him up with another character of that segment like Squirrel Girl.
At that point it becomes: Who do you want to see win?

You know, there was once a battle at Anime Fight Club (run by some friends of mine at conventions) that was sort of like this. It was Kenshin Himura VS Samurai Jack, and the best argument out of everything was that they would see this battle as pointless and go off somewhere to have some tea.

But Asura? He's hard to reason with. Saitama might actually seek him out because he killed gods, just to get some life back into his soul.
