Dynasty warriors online would be amazing, or Kingdom under Fire, it'd could work differenlty form the norm like Travian but fully 3D and factions would develop, th aim would be to win the server over a series of months then it'd restart

Or, Firefly. A Firefly MMO would be epic, and it would no doubt be the greatest one evr [/subliminal_messaging].

Actually, what about an MMO based on Lost? It could be set not just on the Island, but also in different locations around the world (Tunisia or Antarctica, for example, and fans will know what I'm getting at there), and you could play a character based on one of the different factions (survivor, Other, DHARMA Initiative, Mercenary, Widmore's people, etc...).
A Firefly MMO would probably be the only MMO i would even consider paying for.
To be honest, with the possible exception of Final Fantasy XI, I feel exactly the same.

a pokemon MMORPG would be pretty kool indeed...
I'm still on my high horse and trying to convert all non-believers that an Inquisitor MMORPG would be the best thing ever created... though the problem with that, as with anything attached to the brand, it's Warhammer 40K and people find it a bit too far into the realms of nerd-dom, rather than the happy dizzy world of geek-dom...
They are developing a WH40K MMO. THQ is the dev on that I believe so I guess someone doesn't think that is too deep into nerd-dom.

Since they're all good addictions, why not Heroin Hero? Everyone chases a dragon through the magical forest, but no one ever catches him, just like WoW.

Most everything has been done, even some things people have said in this very thread.

Real life style MMO with guns and stuff.
In my vision it would be like GTA 4 but MMO features and whatever.
I just can't explain what am thinking, its too massive :D
Though I cant say much about the RL part, they have had futuristic and post-apocalyptic MMORPGs with FPS combat(note, real MMORPGs, not just some RPG elements) They were called Tabula Rasa(failed) and Hellgate:London(also Failed)

There is a Dynasty Warriors MMO, actually, If I remember correctly, but it has no licensing outside of where it was created, unfortunately.

ok i have no idea what DDKR is?

but guessing by looking at whats coming out or in progress, CCP's collaboration with White Wolf making World of Darkness online. Set in the current world with vampires, werewolves and mages, using guns and stuff. Using CCP's latest software which looks immaculate:

http://scr3.golem.de/?d=0811/EveOnline_Walking-in-Stations&a=63652&s=1

in a similar way, Funcom are working on a Cuthulu game. artwork so far looks awesome, but its Funcom, and anyone who trusts them to release a working game is just lying to themselves.

Would love to see the new starwars MMO go well but i dont think it will. Grinding with a lightsaber is still going to be grinding.

i would love to see a real MMO version of The World (ie .hack//)
or a Transmetropolitan MMO, not sure how that would work, not everyone can be spider jerusalem... but it would a be a cool starting point.
Alright, first the "The World" one, its already been done, again a licensing thing, and its small, its like the first four games for the PS2, Infection-Quarantine. I think they could do better, and I would squeal with glee if they actually had a hardcore, committed, licensed across several countries so I could play it, "The World" game.

And that first one sounded fun! They already have a "horror" MMO, its called Bloodymare:Requiem. But what you said sounded really interesting, being a werewolf would be really fun, lol.

*EDIT*
And DDKR is Dance Dance Kitten Revolution, I believe. Watch the end credits of any recent escapist show for a snippet of it, thats all Ive seen besides the new adds with a Kitten in them talking about the Webby's. That, along with the many threads about such Felignificence (feline magnificence! Portmanteau!) I can only assume that perhaps this DDKR thing is supposed to become some Escapist Mascot type thingy.

*pant...pant....pant* *EDIT* AGAIN....*pant pant pant*

I totally agree about a pokemon MMO, that would be really cool. They have had MMO games with such intuitive pet fighting systems lately, like Mabinogi's or Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine's system. I suspect they could work this out to great effect commanding pokemon to battle.

*EDIT....omg... *

There is a starwars MMO, already, or atleast was, I havent heard about it in a while, but I dont think it's gone under... It was moderately interesting, though I heard that originally who could play as a jedi was randomly selected in the character creation. (Midoclorean (sp?) count being so random and all...) Supposedly it was for more immersion, but I think they just ended up with a bunch of pissed off people that were mad some random jerks got to be jedi and they couldnt.

*GASP* *sputter* *die*

SRSLY though, Mad Max. When you just have to dress in leather bondage, thrash cars through a desert and fire enormous guns at each other, what can you do?

Let the genre die?
...
...
Nah, just kidding. I don't want a bunch of MMO fanboys to chew my head off.
If I were into those games I'd have to say a WWI game.

World War 1 MMO?
Any Shooting MMO is destined to shrivel up, fall apart, and die. Its happened before

Do you think that FallOut 3 would be the one to change that (IF, they get it out AND they stuck with the theme)?

i'd like to see a Water World MMO

Two races, humans and the mutants, humans get better benifits from working near cities IE crafting professions and or gun/combat bonuses, but rely on technology to dive, mutants can obviously spend infinite time diving and get underwater bonuses, but they only know survival, get bonuses in sailing and underwater combat. cities with crafters, over water world populated by PvPers fighting in ships underwater world for PvE exploration collecting resources etc. quests for both over water and under.

what you think?

I think a steampunk MMO involving the following features.

Entire custom built weaponry and mastercrafting:
Every item of clothing, armour, weapon or potion is made by a player or looted from a creature (who have crappy mass produced junk only newbies will use) Tis way you won't be able to know the stats of that flintlock pistol that's aiming for you until.... OH! it's really a plasma cannon!

Hidden stats and character details:
IRL you can't tell if someone's stronger then you or a higher level so why do can we in games?
In PVP environments or in party systems level is important and new players get treated like garbage... But what if you couldn't tell? Would you randomly attack that guy running down the road if yu didn't have the green text saying he's weaker? Combined with the previous addon that everything is player built so stats are impossible to know on items, you'll never know your opponant's level

Player Developed universe:
In some Korean mmo's there exists systems in which the players control every aspect of the world. They run the stores, they are the police and military, they even start countries.
In this world the whole world is affected by players. You own a shop? Well you'd better go out and buy things to sell because if you have good stuff you can sell it and then folk can use those things to in turn protect your store.

I'd like an MMO where people have to communicate instead of form gangs and kill each other or fight mindless monsters for stupid exp...

Rant over

Squad based, like as you level your little personal armor gets bigger and you are allowed new units to add to your ever expanding squad. Factions of course as they via for control, Land and sea. Maybe even flying units, like dragons or clockwork helicoptors.

With naval fights. Boarding, broadsides, etc. and depending on your units, could give stat bonuses or even speical skills. City sieges where you can build siege weapons or just storm the gate/walls. Probably need a high end pc, which I don't have :p.

The above post made me wonder, are levels needed at all? Why can't you let your stats decide?

There are a few MMOs out there like that... Though personally I've never been able to stick with one because there is about zero immersion, and since you lack a character of your own, No connection. I just feel like its a chatroom strategy game... But there are some out there.

How about a Disgaea MMORPG?
This. I can see it now, every demon in the Netherworld fighting to become the next Overlord. And the Celestians trying to stop them from killing everything.

I'm basically quoting myself from a previous thread here, but here we go:

Renaissance base:
Taking base in a slightly (read: extremely) romanticised version of 15th century Firenze and Venice, right after the discovery of the Americas, it wouldn't be short of occasion for exploring the "unexplored", and it would be a great setting for an inter-dependent user-based economy.

User-based economy:
Said exploring would be done by explorers, but explorers need a ship, which they will only be able to get from a shipyard owned by a craftsman. The craftsman would again need to buy the raw materials from a trader.

Close-to unlimited exploring:
Making the map wouldn't too difficult, as you wouldn't have to come up with the layout, it's already made. A recreation of the West Indies, Florida and middle-America, in a way that would make it playable. This would even increase the inter-dependence as users can exchange maps of what they have explored.

Settling, user-controlled societies:
Users can settle their own cities in the aforementioned area, and create their own societies for mining gold, go hunting, start plantations etc. (Triangular trade NOT included ofc).

My biggest concern: No emphasis on combat.
