There have been allot of new mmos coming out recently, it made me think about the possibilities of other fictional universes that would fit well into the mmo format. What Universes (from games, books, movies or whatever) Do you thing would make a good mmo?

A Couple came to mind for me the Elder Scrolls Universe, Zelda Universe and the legend of the five rings Universe.

The Elder scrolls series has such a rich back-story and well developed style that could easily be re-worked into mmo format. There are already races classes crafting a suitable world with starting locations for each race, and Bethesda would make an epic mmo methinks.

I can say almost the same about Zelda but they would be a bit harder to make, ideally combining the worlds from all the games in some way. As for races there are At least Five Hylean Kokiri Deku Goron and Zora. Classes would be easy enough to make.

I don?t know how popular legend Of the five rings is anymore, it?s a fantasy series set in a feudal Asian (I say Asian because it?s based on many different Asian myths and legends) land with warring tribes each with their own unique fighting style and back story.

Anyway that what I think, looking forward to hearing all your ideas

I love the Elder scrolls and Bethesda, but you know if they tried to make an mmo it would probably be the buggiest thing anyone ever tried to sell to anyone ever.

A part of me still wishes they would do it though...

The only plausible idea that I could come up with is already in the works, and that is the Doctor Who MMO.

Though it will have to be restrained a bit. We can't have one player going back in time and changing something that will change the whole game for everybody else. Wouldn't that be crazy, the game would be changing every second.

Well you could make it so that to get a time-travel device you needed to be of extremely high level. Or simply make the continuity "Time Locked" SO you can't change it.

Still I'd like to see a Stargate one. Yet I would think that that would be better as a regular RPG and not as an MMO.

Seriously most of the established game worlds that work have already been used. Or are in the process of being used (eg 40k it would work).

Hmmm, why not a Fallout MMO? But it would basically be Fallout 3 with a bunch of other spods running around...

Hmmmm... *goes through game library*

Oooh, an Assassin's Creed MMO? :O That could be cool, you could customise your own assassin's armour, skills and weapon loadout.

Wow, that would be REALLY cool!

I'd love to see an end of the world style MMO. where your objective isn't becoming some super legendary hero of awesome, it's simply surviving. There wouldn't be good guys and bad guys, there would just be people doing things they feel they need to do to survive.

of course there would be zombies and mutants to fight, but why wouldn't there be. kind of a fallout setting just with more freedom in what you can do and such.

Well, we would have had a Stargate MMO, but it fell apart. And then when the people that worked on it split off to make two different game developers, and both teamed up to get the rights to their work from the place they used to work for so that they could save it and start work on it again, the courts didn't rule in their favor.

It is like Fox not selling SciFi the rights to Firefly all over again. A stupid company move prevents something from seeing the light of day again and becoming a success.

I think we have enough fantasy/olde worlde style MMO's to be honest. It all gets a bit samey unless you're a diehard fan that will see all the little differences between Warcraft Elven Lore and Elder Scrolls Elven Lore. I mean sure, I can see the differences, but does the look of the world change much? The characters? The gameplay? The storyline? It's all too similar.

What we need are more modern, apocolyptic and futuristic MMO's. Ones that are playable and accesible. I know we have the likes of EVE and Fallen Earth, but one isn't very accessible, and one is well....

Well, while a TES MMO would be fun,it would not play like a normal TES game. Would probably have to be like an advanced Runescape to be the best adaptation (practive makes perfect instead of generic universal xp and class limitations)

I'd love to see a war MMO. Something with two sides and numerous factions. Something that encompassed all out battle (with non-static battle lines), but also the intruige, plotting and espionage elements of war... Perhaps even one where it was possible to defect?

A more complete DnD MMO would be nice. 3.5 style, not 4th. Or just make it like NWN online...but waaaaaay bigger. If I want to be a Neutral Evil Gnome Druid, I should be allowed to be. (Those who do not know, Evil alignments, gnomes, and druids are all absent from DDO among other things)

Secret of Mana MMO. Seriously, it could happen. There's enough lore there to get the basics for a good story.

Psychotic killer rabbits. Also in pink and white colors.
