I'm a writer, and after recently playing through Red, Crystal, Leaf Green, Emerald and Pearl, I came up with a bit of a darker Pokemon story.
The action all takes place on a little island name Rardat. It's a moderately settled island, with many wild Pokemon running free. The plot is a real, actually violent gang, go out into the towns and one major city, named Hub City, and actually attack people. They have no motive other than to kill and cause chaos.

The un-named protagonist saw his best friend get killed by the gang (who are called The Skulls, by the way), and swears to raise a team of Pokemon to try and kill The Skull leader as payment for his best friend's death. Ridden with rage and anger, he storms off into the mountain near his hometown and comes across an Aron fighting a group of Machops. He notices there is another Aron next to it, dead, and realizes this Aron is similar to him. He runs over and shoos the Machops and sits down next to the Aron. He talks to it and gets to it to agree to becoming his partner.

Throughout the next few scenes, the hero and his Aron come across a Skull trying to mug a woman and confront him. The Skull sends out a Cacnea with a black bandanna with a white rotting skull image on it, covering its lower body. Aron over powers the Cacnea and the Skull angrily kicks the Cacnea away as it tries to return to him and flees from the alley. The hero decides to take in the Cacnea, and later does the same for a Vigoroth, a Luxray, a Gengar and a Crobat.
With his team of abused Pokemon assembled and trained (Aggron, Cacturne, Vigoroth, Luxray, Gengar and Crobat), they head to Hub City and begin hunting down major members of The Skulls. After attacking, and only once killing, the most known members of The Skulls, the hero and his team begin trying to track down the leader, known as The Reaper. The police have no records on him, and nobody in the streets has any either. Desperate for information, the hero comes across a younger Skull and attacks him. After beating the young man brutally, he demands to know of the Reaper's location. The young man manages to cough before a bullet flies through his head. The hero turns to find himself staring at a cop, and he is soon arrested.
My notes stop with the arrest. Thoughts?

And for some more discussion, writers, what ideas have games driven you to write about? And others, have you come up with ideas because of games?

I've been working on an adaptiation of Soldier of Fortune: Payback, and another script that's like a Gamer Romance movie

Ideas, are like a virus, once a small seed of an idea is planted in someone's mind, it can grow rapidly and even infect others. Ideas can destroy or define who you are. (I have no idea how that is relevant, but go and see Inception RIGHT NOW)

I plan on seeing that once my girlfriend comes home. Is it good?

Eh, I've had some ideas from games I've played, but I wouldn't want to post them over the internet, because people can plagiarize.

Remember how District 9 was a breakout hit because it was smart and action-packed, as well as being slightly overshadowed by other releases?

Yeah, Inception is this year's District 9. Go and see it ASAP, Leo DiCaprio and Ellen Page both do great jobs. Be warned however, that it is 3 hours long (but a good 3 hours).

PS. Do not ruin the plot for yourself, it will take most the enjoyment out of the film.

Never saw District 9, but alright, I'll see it soon.

I actually did an episode based on Phoenix Wright in the cartoon series I worked for -- and it was aired!

I've been knocking around an idea for a while, it would be a 40K TC of ME2. You'd be cast in the role of an Inquisitor. Instead of picking only classes, you'd choose one of the three major Ordos to be a member of, which would determine which threat (Chaos, Heretics, or Xenos) your main quest would center on. The three stories would share many of the same side quests, which would allow players who chose a path to experience some of what the other two stories would center on. You'd recruit team members from all over the Imperium, at least one Tech Marine, a Dreadnought, a Librarian, and probably a few members of the Imperial Guard. Of course you'd upgrade your ship, and have some awesome space fights, because space battles are awesome. Most importantly, since you're an Inquisitor, people on the streets would actually have a reason to talk to you and give you missions.

I'd like to give you a quick bit of advice; careful where you tread with stuff like this. If you're going to make something light hearted dark, make sure you won't regret it.

I wrote something like this once, turning a kiddy game into some kind of dark fanfic. To this day, I remain glad I never finished it.

Oh thank fuck I never finished it. I just looked at it to confirm it was as awful as I remembered. I stopped reading not even a paragraph in.

I admit I'm a bit nervous about writing it, but it also intrigues me that my mind has come up with such a dark twist to a franchise I love for being so lighthearted. But I've been told writing long, in-depth fanfics is a good start for a teenage authour.

Yes I have. Several actually. I don't want to share them in case someone is an idea stealer...
.>
...
But ok, I can share one Idea: multiplayer for Mirror's Edge(2):
A maximum of 8 players per level(in this mode). A bag is placed in the middle of the map (or just so it's the same distance to every Runner) your job as a runner is to get to the bag before the other runners do. And hold it for the longest possible time. Now, holding the bag doesn't effect you in terms of speed or agiility. But the other runners can see you (with an arrow/something). If another runner has the bag, you can take it from them by kicking/punching them so that they're knocked out. I realize that this will mean that when someone has the bag everyone will take the same route as everyone else and beat the crap out of eachother as soon as the first runner is knocked out. I haven't really come up with a solution for that one. (maybe move the bag?).
My other idea for the game's multiplayer was to have a team match. you're on two teams and once again the goal is to hold the bag(/get it to a location) for longer than the other team.
The twist here is that you can pass the bag between you, even "in jump", like they do in one of the cutscenes. and if the other team's guys jumps between you and the other guy, they get your bag. (I mean you passed it to them... right?) I think that could be a fun game mode.
Oh, and you only have open free-running maps on rooftops/other open places with lots of stuff to jump on/slide under/vault over. And since the game is so good looking, and you can do pretty awesome stuff (once you get good enough) the multiplayer would have an "in game theater" like Halo 3 and Uncharted 2. So everything you do is recorded, should you do an amazing string of stunts and then knock the bag carrier on his ass. I'm also thinking runner customization, you get a certain ammount of model runners but can change clothes and tatoos and harstyle/haircolor. So everyone is uniqe (just like in real life). I think that this could be loads of fun! (should DICE actually do it.)

As a possible solution for the possible clusterfuck of punches after the knockout, maybe there's a animation where the player holding the bag collapses, the bag goes sliding away and the person who knocked them out goes diving after it. It would be a set animation that gives you a bit of a head start on the others. (note that I didn't mean the clusterfuck thing as an insult, just a description)

I HAD some ideas for writing based on fiction to which I was exposed, some of them being video games. Then I actually attempted to write something, failed miserably and stopped attempting. THEN I was exposed to some truly awesome fanfiction and was left in despair at my complete lack of skills. Oh well.

yeah, I guess that could work. it's just what are the others supposed to do while tha animation is running? Does it lock them in place? But thanks for the idea ^^ and don't worry, "clusterfuck" is a word I use way too often myself. no offense taken. :)

That's probably true, since I write a hell of a lot better now, and writing that piece of shit made me realize how much fun I have with writing.

I've had a lot of ideas for original stories, but most of which I never write because I have trouble making characters act human. Instead they act more like anime cliches. Smug anime cliches.
