If a sport similar to the sports in the movies Death Race, Gamer, The running Man, etc. became a legalized sport, would you watch it? If not, would you protest it or just simply ignore it?

The people used in the sport are people in death row, like in most movies.

The only good I can see this doing is so people will think twice about doing sick shit like this, but no, I don't think something like this would be a good idea. there's a big difference in the feeling of someone being killed in a movie, and someone seriously being killed in real life.

Details: It will be Arena combat with different modes, such as Capture the Flag, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Juggernaut ( One participant is given super steroids disease, that makes you harder to kill. If you manage to kill the infected, then you get it. To give everyone a fair chance, everyone who participates gets trained for several months. In order to join, you must either be on Death row ( You'll be put in against your will), or life in prison ( You have a choice, wining gains you huge freedoms such as a mansion sized cell, etc.). Also no guns or any ranged weapons. Only swords, spears, Maces, and Body Armor.

I don't even think regular sports are particularly moral or righteous so I wouldn't have anything to do with this kind either.

You mean a modern day version of the Arena in Ancient Rome? Basically the same but with HD cameras and action replays? Fight's to the death with internet polls on who should have mercy or not? Financed by an eccentric billionaire with a $2 million reward for winning a match? Hosted in International Waters?

Fuck yes Please

How come when ever somebody brings up Death Race, the only bring up the new one. Death Race 2000 was considerably more violent and frankly more awesome.

OT: I probably wouldn't care because in those movies, they exist in a world with a high amount of censorship. The social climate at the time would be much different.

I'll 100 Denarii to the winner.

Seriously, I don't think it will happen, but if it did, I would be opposed to it.

Welp, when that happens you know your society has just leaped off the cliff of not recognizing the inherent value of human life, so...

If you recall how many Americans cheered "Hooray War"! in 2003, then I think the answer is "yes".

Yeah, I'd be into it for sure. Although if it were death row people that were in the sport, I think it would get people to murder just to be put into the games. People crave the limelight, and with how popular this would be killing for it wouldn't be that far of a stretch.

Keep it to volunteers.

yes. it would be a good way to clear out the overcrowded prison system and make some much needed revenue.

I can enjoy some violence but a line has to be drawn somewhere. Unless you are a true psychotic (needing to be separated from society) you would turn it off once it got really ugly.

As with everything dangerous in my life I'd ignore it until someone I loved got envolved, then I'd probably protest against it. But if they didn't get involved, I wouldn't care. Let the idiots kill thems selves. (This assuming it's voluntary).

What he said. If I ever get to participate in time travel, I'd go to Rome just to go the Arena.
