The more I think about it, the more Melisandre seems like a character that would really be at home in an Anime....

Interesting...

If we could get a note from Mr. Martin declaring it non-canon (and therefore inconsequential), I would be in support of this endeavour. If only out of curiosity.

Actually, I read the books through an anime filter, and besides everyone having eyes large enough that you can clearly see what colour they are (mostly Daenerys) not much is different. Besides maybe the voices and a few character details.

Yes, there is anime out there that doesn't involve random superpowers for everyone. Ever watched Evangelion?

While I don't read the books through an anime filter, I agree that [anime]A Song of Ice and Fire wouldn't be too different from [book]A song of Ice and Fire.

I thought the same thing too... To be honest I don't know whether it would be good or not, but I think if Martin wanted he could explain the back story in an anime series. one of the most intresting part of the story for me Regar targaryen and lyanna stark.
