Holo (I've said it before, Spice & Wolf business/dating simulation visual novels in Japan, so it counts). Because seriously, who wouldn't want to be friends with a cute girl with the tail and ears of a wolf and who can turn into a badass GIANT WOLF!
that's holo the wise wolf lad and remember she's a very proud wolf.
As someone who cosplayed as Lawrence and met TWO Holo's at the con, I am all too familiar with that.
...that's...amazing...epic in fact, good sir i am at a loss for words.

Spyro the Dragon - don't ask why, I just think we'd be good friends. That is, before he turned into a moody, boring, dark, gritty, serious, tosser with the addition of the Wii games.

Or maybe Anchovi from Animal Crossing: Wild World. Mainly because he's named after something that goes on a pizza, and partly because I think he's a nice-guy.

Here you go:

Just a heads up, this picture does not do either of them justice.

Alistair from Dragon age. He is just a fantastic best buddy. Or Guybrush Threepwood from the Monkey Island series. He is just amazing. Or Mort from Planescape: Torment. I would like to have a floating skull around.

Still hasn't changed since the last thread. Raul "The Ghoul" Tejada from Fallout: New Vegas. He's funny, smart, keeps my stuff in good condition as long as he can, and he's also quick with his hands (yeah, I took that option in his personal quest).

Well...Does Bismarck count? Not the real, dead Bismarck, but the awesome immortal Bismarck from Civilization. We'd go cruising around the country, visit factories which would instantly turn everyone within into Batista, then go fight some sports hooligans which would then have a 50% chance of becoming our bitches.

Link from the Legend of Zelda. He goes out of his way to help people, not because he thinks he can get something out of it, but because it's the right thing to do. He's always willing to risk himself for his friends, and has a strong sense of duty. He can be playful or heroic if the occasion calls for it and he's an all round good person. Sure he doesn't say much, but he's a great listener. He's nice, but not a goody two-shoes. He's willing to circumvent the rules if the reason's good enough.

He's athletic, but not jock-like or thuggish, he's artistic and musical, but not spacey. We know because he can solve feindish puzzles all the time that he's an intelligent guy. Whenever we see him not as a child, he's a responsible and productive member of society who holds down a steady job (Dude even drives a train at one point. How awesome is that?) He seems like he'd be a pretty cool guy to get to know.

So yeah, Link's awesome, and anyone who says he's boring and flat as a hero because he doesn't talk is clearly not paying attention.

Ratchet.

Because he's fuzzy, adorable, heavily-armed and handy with tools.

What's NOT to like? :D

If I could pick any character from a video game to be my best friend, probably Zelos from Tales of Symphonia. He's pretty laid back, he's funny, he seems like he'd be a great friend to have.

The previously sugested Mew and Batman. Though, Mew isn't really a character, and Batman wouldn't have any time to hang with me. Besides, he's not a very plesant guy.

Kirby, however, is awesome. Besides being super cute he also have all sorts of handy powers.(in Kirby for 64 he can become a refrigirator and make food) He's a bit naive though and I'd have to look out for him all the time. Maybe Meta knight, he's a pretty cool guy, but like Kirby he'd playbably have problems living in our modern society.

Another good option would be Captain Falcon. Why? Because he's the god damn Captain Falcon. He'd take care of any trouble makers and win races in has spare time.(the dude out-raced gods ffs) He's pretty much the coolest guy ever and a damn flashy hero if ever there was one.

But you know who else would make a good firend? Phoenix. Who's that? This guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3RzzP8lExY
He's a time traveling genious super cop. He built his own damn time machine to go hunt the worst criminals in history ALONE! You think you'd be safe when Batman is your best friend? This guy would go back in time and beat up anyone before they could lay a finger on you.

So yeah. Kirby, Meta knight, Falcon or Phoenix.

Definitely my avatar.

He seems like a nice young fellow.
ok a bit off topic but yeah id have to carpet bomb your house then cause i hate him with a passion.
OT: ok i have to admit the first thing that came to mind was yuri lowell from tales of vesperia but now that ive thought about it i gotta say varic from dragon age 2 cause hes varic and he knows everyone:)
What do you hate about him? Nothing but good comes from that wonderful man (and his psychotic tendencies).
.....18hours of my life it took to kill his sorry ass thats all i have to say.
Really? 18 hours, just on the final boss? Did you not do any sidequests or get the palladin shield, cause I beat him on my first go through. Although I do have an absolute hatred of albert wesker, as I had to stay up till 2 in the morning to kill that ************ on a school night (it was due back at the rental store the next day and I had wasted all my ammo in the prior boss fight).
i had about a week to finish the game so yeah side quests weren't an option. oh and it only took that long cause of the stupid random number generator which decided i must die too many times.

I would say Kirby, but I think I would easily make friends with him because I'm not an enemy and I won't attempt to disrupt his eating habits. Hmm...decisions, decisions...I think I'll go with Sam "Serious" Stone, mostly because I want him to spill the beans on how to activate the mystical quick-save and quick-load keys.

As always for these questions, Megatron. Because fuck you.
Optimus Prime could so kick his ass. And Optimus Prime supports guns. All in all, I would love to have Optimus Prime as a best friend. Who wouldn't want a giant transforming semi? Or Optmus Prime as a friend?

Kallen, C.C. or Zero... What? They've been in games...

If I had to choose one, though I'd choose Kallen, I liked her character the most
