If you were to find out today that in May 2011, all video game companies, developers and retailers were to stop working with video games and go in different directions, and no one was going to continue the video game industry AND that the nation of Japan finally perfected their rocket technology to remove Japan from Earth and travel space, what would you do?

Stock up on existing games, and sit back and wait for the MOD community to form a new era of community-based PC gaming.
It'd probably take 6 months at the most.

Read a book, watch T.V, speak to someone. There is more to life then video games.

Just replay old games? YOu said if they stopped MAKING games, so I could still play games on XBL or something. And I could just do something else if I got bored with old games.

Nothing more than I already do. I pretty much just go to college and work. Hang out with my boyfriend and his friends occasionally. Now from them? I dunno, since they're gamers and all. They'd probably stock up on whatever console game is out and just hoard it.

Hope that the simulation industry doesn't end, too, else I'm out a job.

Read more and play more tabletop games, I suppose.

Although, being an argumentative bastard, I want to say I wouldn't play along with the global abandoning of games and try and start up a new gaming company. I could make millions! No competition, lots of untapped demand....

I have 3-step plan in such case.

Step 1: Open the window.
Step 2: After all the ganja smoke vents out of here, extinguish remaining bongs and cigars and whatever.
Step 3: Go out in the park and drown the remaining supply in a nearby lake.

Gaming industry as a whole will not just cease existing overnight. And if it would, NERDRAGE RIOTS in all major cities would be expected.

I'd play CCGs. I love CCGs (I hate how expensive they are, though).

Also, I'd buy old video games and play those. There are plenty of games around right now to keep me busy until I kick the bucket.

Huddle all my games in a corner and cry softly whilst rocking in the foetal position.

Or this. This works.
