Our team is currently looking for a programmer who's willing to work with us to make a game. If you're interested or might know someone who's interested, or could kindly direct me in the correct direction onto where I should even start to look, I would greatly appreciate it. Yes, I've tried Newgrounds. Thank you

My name is Julio Mora. I'm an ambitious 20 year old sadist who kicks bunnies for sport. However on my free time I work on a project that is very dear to me as every member is also dear to me. I'm currently the project lead manager/Director/Narrator/ and story writer for Team Falcon Dynamite and our current game project "Scrublys". You've probably never heard of it, and you've probably never heard of our team... We have a Twitter! https://twitter.com/Falcon_Dynamite. If you went ahead and took a look at that previous link you can checkout some of the artwork we've shared to give people a hint of the style we're going for. Now if the art style catches your attention in the slightest and that as of right now YOU WILL NOT BE GETTING PAID (but the faster and more awesome we can get something out, that's something we can look forward to), please continue, I know that most people don't like wasting their time before they know what they're getting into. So I'll make this as detailed in the beginning as possible to save both you and myself the trouble. I'm good like that!

What we are and what are goal is:
We are (as of right now) a goodwill dev team making games (a game right now technically) because we love games. We've all played and adored games since we were young and so, we started making one. Currently, Scrublys has been worked on for one year and three months. Are goal (as of right now) is to make a prototype of Scrublys, release it on the net, and see if anyone will love it enough, then a possible kickstarter project may be in order (after all we wouldn't want you to support us unless you gave it a try first, right?). If this does well we intend to sell the game for $10 and plenty of levels and bonuses to last awhile... this is of course assuming it does well. We're making games out of passion, games shouldn't be a luxury, nay they should be affordable and fun for all to enjoy. If that sounds like something you're interested in, please continue.

What the game is like:
You play as three blobs, you're going to save a pretty blob from an evil blob. Now that you have a general concept on the incredibly complex story, onto the gameplay. It's a platformer, you will control three blobs that move together in unison simultaneously, your goal is to make it to the dancing finish flag and complete the level. Of course that's just bare bones to what a normal platformer is normally like. Now for the twists! You'll get levels that will require you to switch in and out from diffrent dimesions, you'll deal with sureal sadism and again, you're controlling three characters who share the same life bar... Also there are two difficulties. Casual mode, in which you take three hits and you die and real, which is the core difficulty in which you die in one shot, thankfully the levels will be anywhere from 30secs- to a minute.

This game was inspired by games like the original sonic trilogy, Super Meat Boy, Mario, Zelda and miscellaneous cartoon shows that arose in the late 90's early 2000's (like the grim adventure's of Billy and Mandy, and Courage the Cowardly dog). that being said the humor and enemies are definitely far from being something conceivable like the word "normal". So in other words we're having fun with this game. We have all played terrible games, we've all played amazing games, we're utilizing what we've learned from those games with disappointing promise and from games that nailed the hounds before they could bark. So if you're up for a game with a completely deceptive direction (in a fair and just manner), then please continue.

Why we Need a programmer:
Technically we already have three. However due to school, jobs and other fun fun stuff they can't contribute the amount they could normally put in. Now I understand that this is a goodwill project (Of course considering I'm the person running it), but consistency is consistency, I need to either see you making commitments either weekly or bi-weekly and if you're running behind let me know the reason why, the last thing I'd want is not to hear an answer and then wonder what the hell happened to you. I'm not saying our other programmers don't contribute, they just don't contribute as much and honestly we need as much help as we can get. We have artwork, we have copyright, we have music, we have design tiles, we have a map editor for those designed tiles as well. There's a lot we have but we're all scrunched on time because unfortunately we don't have things such as "funds" to make us go all the way for the project full-time (hence why a kickstarter is necessary). If you wish to join us, please acknowledge small little guidelines I wish for everyone to follow.

First off everyone in the team is spread from the US, Canada, and the UK, please don't show discrimination unless it's a joke and we all know it's a joke, because those damn Puerto Rican Spanish people always have some shit to complain about... hehe.

Second, please show consistency. I want people interested and commited to something, like to finishing that frappe you get from Mcdonalds, you bought it large, you finish it. If you're not going to commit and if you don't believe you should post a valid reason for why to the team you've commited too, then please don't waste anyone's time.

Thirdly, be honest. If something is bugging you, and if you don't agree with something don't just keep it inside, talk to me and I'll do my damndest to help your needs. I'm not a AAA company.

I hope you understand this reasoning and I do hope if you wish to join that you agree with the expectations above. If you're interested I will require you to send me a sample of test code so we can see what you can do, and then we get you started on getting access to everything!

Please contact me here through private message, this topic and if you have any questions I may have forgotten (which I apologize if I did) please post them here as well so that everyone can use it as reference material.

I wish you all a good day, I really look forward to your answers and questions, thank you!

Arright, here's some tough love:

I would suggest that you describe what you DO have coded so far, and what part of the game you need a new programmer for. What system will they be working on? Core movement systems, Animation systems, AI systems, refining the Editor, ...or everything?

What kind of consistency could they expect of you? Have you done any projects like this before, etc?

What method are you using to schedule the project? GANTT? Something else? Do you have a deadline?

What system are you using to synchronize the code? TortoiseSVN? Something else?

What more can you tell them that would show them that you are serious enough?

Do you have a prototype?

And some questions regarding the game design:
How will the 'dimension shifts' work? What will be different? What will they add to the game?

Do you control the three characters simultaneous, or one by one? What will sharing a health bar add to the game?

A comment on the art I found on Twitter:
"surreal sadism" makes me think of something grim and twisted, something out of Dali's paintings, but darker and with a hostile humor or glee too it.

With that said, why do you have green grass, rocks and flowers as your basic envoirment?
Why does your characters remind me of pacman or smilies? Why is the enviorment "normal" but the characters are extremely abstract?
Why are the enemies not strange or alien too me? I have seen these guys before! They were in the margins of my 6th grade math book. They are cute, but you were not going for cute?

Why do you post your inside jokes (bunnies?) together with the graphics of the game? Are they included? Will people understand them? If not, remove them.

Challenge accepted

I would suggest that you describe what you DO have coded so far, and what part of the game you need a new programmer for. What system will they be working on? Core movement systems, Animation systems, AI systems, refining the Editor, ...or everything?

Misc, we split pieces through the plan document (through google drive), this is our reference document that portrays future work that must be done and what is currently top priority, we split the priority pieces to the programers (voluntarily of course). Once then they begin on the work and generally work on it and collaborate with the team and see if we can generally agree on something.

What kind of consistency could they expect of you? Have you done any projects like this before, etc?

As of right now I'm submitting audio submissions, finished the storyboard, acknowledging the team is cooperating well with each other, and designing levels and am the one putting money into its initial creation, I.E a prototype. This is my first project like this, that is why we're taking the utmost precaution with it because we don't wish to mess it up. I did this in school before for a little while and have been working on improving my own personal skills to provide more for the team.

What method are you using to schedule the project? GANTT? Something else? Do you have a deadline?

As mentioned in your previous question, this is merely a prototype we're working on, on our free time, submitting a thing here and there is basically what we've been doing for the past year. Having a deadline is hard to achieve when everyone is also working and going to school, if we had say funds and were in full development or something of the nature, we would be plowing forward faster and I doubt I would have put this post up.

What system are you using to synchronize the code? TortoiseSVN? Something else?

It is currently being synchronized via TortoiseSVN, the Code storage is in Assembla.

What more can you tell them that would show them that you are serious enough?

We do want to see this through, I'm not taking these questions that you portray to me as something to harm us, or myself, in fact I'm sure you probably play plenty of games yourself, in which case these questions you give me are simply a way of telling me ways to improve and try to really make something worth it. I appreciate that. I can't really say why we're serious, I can just say we are serious and that I won't let the project fail, I'd rather die honestly.

Do you have a prototype?

This is what we're working on right now, we want to make a solid prototype that way we can actually go forwards with something, rather than just saying "Hey lets make a game and ask you to donate, just because we ask nicely". We want something so that someone actual knows what they're getting into, it's never been easy to make something of good quality, it takes time.

And some questions regarding the game design:
How will the 'dimension shifts' work? What will be different? What will they add to the game?

If you've played say a game called Outland, it would add to the depth of the level or make timing a necessity and since you control three characters simultaneously, timing is everything.

Do you control the three characters simultaneous, or one by one? What will sharing a health bar add to the game?

Simultaneously yes, sharing the health bar just means that it's easier to die. Challenge is something beautiful, being cheap is cheap.

While I stated before that unfortunately we've only been working on this on our free time, we haven't gotten to the weird parts yet. Our artist is just as busy as the rest of us, and it's not like I have the money to fund her as of yet.

With that said, why do you have green grass, rocks and flowers as your basic envoirment?

Test tiles.

Why does your characters remind me of pacman or smilies? Why is the enviorment "normal" but the characters are extremely abstract?

Simple, they're supposed to, that and Sonic the Hedgehog (by the colors). Again we haven't really gotten to the weird art yet.

Why are the enemies not strange or alien too me? I have seen these guys before! They were in the margins of my 6th grade math book. They are cute, but you were not going for cute?

Only have one enemy so far on the Twitter page. Deceptively cute, good example, Cave Story. Cute looking characters, dark story.

Why do you post your inside jokes (bunnies?) together with the graphics of the game? Are they included? Will people understand them? If not, remove them.
Yes, the jokes are. Possibly, however I do see your point.
