If being transexual is so dangerous, why would anybody go in for that lifestyle?

No, thanks - I'd rather leave you to your superior knowledge of those philosophers. Clearly I am just going to 'get the basics wrong' in my fumbling about. I had better work out these concepts with other wretched plebs like myself, since I apparently can't hope to approach anything like your perspicuous grasp of advanced philosophical ideas.

In other words, I think it's safe to say that you and I have no reason to continue this exchange - good day.
So you ripped into Kyuubi telling her her perspective was unnecessary but throw a hissy when other people use existentialist philosophers (that thing you were arguing) to defend her perspective? Whatevs.

Except that in those cases, you're only masking one aspect of yourself in specific situations. Like not acting like a rowdy gamer at your desk job, or not talking about your crossdressing in front of family, or whatever. In those cases, you suppress it in some instances and let it all out in others.

That's not the same as suppressing your entire gender (which is a basic and huge aspect of yourself), and having everyone treat you as something you know you're not, all day every day.
Right! It's basically having to pretend and lead a double life. It's not merely hiding an aspect of yourself, but rather having to hide everything and have no one truly understand or accept you as you are. It's a pretty dismal existence. You can't equivocate merely the suppression of behaviour to the suppression of self. In the same way acting formal at a funeral is not liable to leave you with crippling depression, being made unable to ever express yourself will.

One's an annoyance, the other is perpetual silencing. You can't compare the two. 'Scope' is important to realize.

Yeah, I was about to edit it right now to say I see what you mean, however I still don't think it makes them anti though (they still can be, I don't doubt that) but being anti, doesn't that mean they should be against it and not just don't wanting to care about it?
Well, depends if you think they are being in good faith when they say they don't care. Not wanting to care tends to equate to wanting the problem and people suffering from the problem to just not exist, in my experience.

There is an argument to be made about there not being a middle ground as well, especially if they claim to care about "all people" in general, but not trans people specifically.

I know right? It's like, why be gay if you can just pretend to be straight?

This is a joke

Cause people don't have a choice and biologically, cannot help themselves?

You don't get a choice in your biology >_>
Isn't that one of the fundamental truths of our world? That you don't get a choice in how're you're born, raised, treated, etc... etc... etc...?

I personally don't get being trans despite having a "trans" friend (trans is in quotes because he identifies as that but I'm not entirely sure if he's just being .... weird or following a trend). I can get being gay but how do you be trans? I'd like to see some statistics on early childhood experiences and etc... to see if there's a common denominator.

Wow. This thread is what baffles me. We had such a great AMA thread yesterday where everything was civil and now this bait-fest has 5 pages already.

And then people ask themselves what's happening to the Escapist in the other recent thread about the decline of viewers.
This, right here.
